Alter demographics.

I know this will degrade into a LOL NIGGER vs LOL CRACKER fagflame, but I don't care. If you could alter demographics in the world which permit civilisation to continue for generation after generation afterwards, what would you change to make the world a better place?

With permanence in mind.. So you could change race, culture and sexual orientation, but you cannot change it to the point where there are not enough men or women to produce the next generation or kill everyone at a certain age inciting revolt and ending the state of things.

I would either
1))I would make thirdworld countries value education and have a school system like ours where children -have- to go to school, and -have- to learn something.
I was talking to a woman I work with (I don't remember where she's from though in the south americas), and mentioned that "my father is from Austria so he speaks german" and she said she didn't know that people in europe spoke anything but  english, french or spanish.
In her mind russia, belgium, norway, italy, germany, hungary, and greece, had no national language. No one had ever told her otherwise so she just assumed.

Or 2) make it so that there was a "common tounge" that everyone could speak passably. Like in lord of the rings.

1) Education is important, and that is one area in which the Asian and Euro-oriented countries could benefit Africa. (Africa has other problems, too: its international borders are all wrong, leading to several ethnic groups sharing the same countries in an inequitable way. So far, that has led to numerous wars and a few genocides. And, of course, there are tropical and slum-oriented diseases, such as malaria and cholera, and there are other issues, such as poverty. The borders were the Europeans' fault. Upon independence of African countries, they allegedly skewered borders so they could retain the upper hand.)
2)English. What the hey, it's already pretty widespread.

Anyhow, as far as demographics go, for stability:
1) Increase the number of middle aged/older folks. While there is always a need for the young, because they bring a vitality to this world and beget new ideas, oldsters lend a moral and ethical backing that many young people don't have, and often try to keep things on an even keel. The drawbacks are obvious: old people (the mohair beret brigade, the Polish call 'em) sometimes go overboard with their moralizing and harp a lot of nonsense about, say, sexuality (at least in cultures where tradition represses sexuality, which isn't every culture), and old people often have work productivity problems.
2) Increase the number of educated people. Education increases the importance of recorded knowledge, which in turn increases the importance of a knowledge tradition, based on such time-honored items such as books and novelties such as the Internet.
3) Aim for cultural/ethnic diversity. Great civilizations are melting pots: they bring together viewpoints from many different  parts of the world and cultures to generate a synthesis. If diversity dwindles, a new religion or culture may need to be founded.
4) Skin color, or one's shape, should be irrelevant: it's one's mind that counts in the long run. Discrimination against people because they're niggers, wops, kikes (ok, that's a religion, some say), gooks, honkies, etc., is counterproductive.
