is anyone else sick of hearing people patting themselves on their backs for having children? as if it's some kind of contribution to society? it's very annoying to hear people complain about how hard parenthood is. if they can't handle it, they should not have had em in the first place! personally, i don't care at all if anonymous #123 shits out another human being.

obviously this isnt directed to any 4chaners since having children would require some kind of copulation. so here's a more relevant topic: do you feel obliged to do whatever your parents say because they gave you the gift of life?

Yup. It's a shame so many people fool themselves with the notion of life having a meaning. In reality we are all nothing, a manifestation of a very long and complex chain of events set in motion by the big bang. Our life and death is just another falling domino in a looooong chain.

Personally I can't stand when people go apeshit over babies. Theyre so cuuute blah blah fucking blah. No, they fucking aren't. I don't think that the desire to procreate is contemptible.  Quite the opposite: if one or two generations just up and decided not to have kids we'd be fucked.

However, many people are out there having kids who aren't the least bit capable of it.  But it's hard to assess that kind of judgment on others: my parents were both general fuck ups, but they pulled it together in their late 30's and raised me and now I'm working on my PhD in mathematics.

On the other hand kids fucking suck.  Most of them 15-20 just need to get their heads bashed up against a wall. srsly. There are times when I'm in front of my class and a kid asks some retarded question and I start to think: ARE U FUCKING KIDDING ME!?!?!

Dude I totally agree.  My teaching is only about half of my entire "job" as a grad student not counting research on my own time.

I take pride in the work I do, but as a TA I get zero control over my students and all the flak for shit going wrong.  This = not much motivation to do a great job.
