Ok, I want all you political investigators here at newpol to figure out something for me. Why is it that Nancy Pelosi has chosen to go to Syria now and hold meetings with their leaders?

Thats an interesting theory, my theory is that at this time when the legislators are trying to pass the timetable/funding bill for the war in Iraq, Pelosi's internal political strategy staff has decided it best that she look proactive and in control and thus meet with a leader in the region on a token visit that isn't really designed to get anything done. I mean, Syria? If she really had balls, she'd go meet with Iran and try to stop this maddening progression toward war.
