Nobody denies the "role" they played. Rational people realize that this was the state of the U.S. political landscape almost 50 years ago (as so eloquently stated by Michael Richards), and that this is now, in 2007. In fact, the paradigm shift that pretty much changed what both parties stood for socially occured because of a civil rights issue.
Would you ridicule a 16 year old German or Japanese kid because of what their country did during World War II? Probably not, although some of you seem like the kind of people who would ridicule him solely because he's not American.
