9/11 changed America in one huge way that people forgot about in America:They could be attacked any second. The last time this attitude reside in soceity was during the Cold War, but their are two major differences 1)Something was actually attacked 2)It wasn't a nation, it was a terrorist. So started the propaganda bullshit lie that they hate us for our freedom, and because the American population is amnesic it forgot about what really was going on in the Middle East during the Cold War. So people give up their individualist '90s lifestyle and individualist rights because their afraid, we become this collective secure nation. Nationalism becomes extremely popular and who ever doesn't fit in to the nationalist is a terrorist. This causes a rise in religion because people fear and they give up something when their afraid. Essentially 9/11 is a war on rights.
To sum it up in a equation
Fear+Propaganda+Nationalism-Rights(through Religion and Law)=America.

How 9/11 Changed America:
After the events of 9/11 american news networks changed from primarily covering "pretty young white girl missing" news stories to "how terrorists might kill you" stories.

How about it's a really good excuse to put 398320 patriotic stickers on your car without being a redneck?

srsly. Google you some '9/11 effects on America' and sift through the 7,030,000 results.

Fail.

republicans pretend reagan didnt fund al qaeda and train bin laden with taxpayer money in the 80s (to hurt russia thru afghanistan the same way iran is hurting the us through iraq)

If you write a biased paper you'll fail, unless this is a paper for sociology class of course, in which case in order to succeed you just have to quote marx and suck up to him and you'll get a guaranteed A. If this isn't for sociology don't forget these facts.

1: Anti-americanism is just a bargaining chip so the tyrants who control all the oil can sell it for a higher price and have an excuse not to permit their citizens to any liberties.

2: Hardline military elements in the middle east use anti-americanism as impetus to gain more funding and power.

3: There are of course people who actually believe by killing american civilians they are serving Allah through isolation and indoctrination. Such people in positions of power are aware of the mechanics of facts 1 and 2, but dismiss the possibility of the core of their beliefs stemming from them.

4: Contemporary culture wasn't tipped upside down by 9/11. Most western nations were dismissive of the terrorist threat despite the shock of 9/11 and the future bombings in Spain and London. Very few people are neo-conservatives or fear that totalitarianism is around the corner, of the people involved there are many more anti-totalitarianists and they come from all political walks or life ranging from republicans who fear it may lose them the next election to ranting extremists who think the US is imperialist like >>3.

The media now gives more time to whining liberals.

bs. fox still cuts off liberals and generally rigs their debates in their favor.
if anything, 9/11 increased the amount of airtime that conservatives got, because conservatives could say essentially "the president is conservative, and if you don't like conservatives, then you don't like america, and if you don't like america, then you are a terrorist." (see P.A.T.R.I.O.T. act for more details on being a terrorist.)

>>3
generally, yes.
you could be a bit less abbrasive, but yes.

>>1
americans were more easily scared into believing whatever the president said post 9/11, and could be led into attacking two countries (afganistan's the first country... in case you suckers forgot.)
also, if your teacher's a liberal, i HIGHLY suggest you wikipedia "state terrorism" and include the jank you learn there in your paper. we liberals tend to love that stuff.
if you're too lazy, essentially, it's the idea that the government is willing to put its citizens into harms way (or make them think that they are in harms way) in order to scare them into following any plans the government wants to put into effect. if they don't follow along, call them un-patriotic.
look up orson wells' "1984" on wikipedia for more details.

Have you watched the O'Reilly factor? He's really polished up his act. He is no longer a conservative, he is pretty much neutral to everything now and also fair and balanced. He lets his opponents have the last word and confronts all issues head on and straight to the point.

>>16
You've got to be fucking kidding me. If one more asshole says O'Reilly is fair, i will lose what little hope for humanity i have left. If you're gonna eat the "fair and balanced" bullshit that FOX news spoon feeds you, don't puke it out on my plate, asshole.
>>14
Just because you say essentially a lot and spew superficially liberal views doesn't make you intelligent. Stop making liberals look like douches and think for yourself.

No, sorry, maybe i didn't make my point clear. O'reilly has changed and is now fair and balanced, he always has liberals come onto the show. He isn't as good as Jeremy Paxman though, that guy is the awesome.

9-11 created a great new source of drama for trolling and memes.  This is about the only effect that it's had on my life.

I guarantee you Republicans and Democrats alike are too ignorant of our country's history to have even considered Reagan's culpability in arming our many enemies.  And I further guarantee that the Dems don't remember that Carter was the first to start funding the Mujahideen, Taliban's precursor.  Reagan merely continued the practice.

9/11 didn't change America at all. Everyone has already forgotten it except when random people bring it up once in a blue moon.

Go to cbc.ca and look for the 5th   estate.  There was a bit on one of their episodes about how the evnets of 9/11 have led to more polarized media.
