I don't know about you, but I tend to treat people who don't annoy me with greater preference to those who piss me off with their blinding, constipation of the brain/diarrhea of the mouth ignorance. People who are proud of being black do piss me off, but everything's relative, and because you're more ignorant and more irritating, yeah, if I had to listen to one or they other, they'd get my vote.

Being proud of your skin color makes more sense when your race has been enslaved and oppressed for most of history. Black is a skin color but it is also a culture, and they counter racist remarks that they are inferior by pointing out what their race has accomplished. Black pride is now generally obsolete since racialist thinking is out of power.

White is a skin color, it is not a culture. Whites on the whole have seen next to no oppression or enslavement. Therefore white pride makes absolutely zero sense unless you are under the false impression that white skin is some how connected to intelligence, even though there is not a shred of scientific evidence.

All I am trying to say is that the reaction in the 50s and 60s by blacks to advocate black power and black nationalism made sense at the time. Blacks had been trying to get equality for 100 years and society still wasn't listening. So, some, such as Malcolm X, thought that they should break off and form their own nation, because white people would never learn. I'm NOT saying this was the right answer, history has proven that MLKs path worked pretty well. And today it doesn't make sense to shout "black power" or "black pride" because while there still may be some discrimination and racism, its not nearly what it was 40 years ago.

I disagree. Blacks are beginning to move on now. All African nations are still highly corrupt, but I would compare this to late 18th century european countries with similiar levels of poverty in fact. A time where governments which supposedly valued liberty were in fact just replacements for the old greedy monarchs, however in time the values they used to get into power would be taken seriously by more and more members of the government and they will make a difference. Especially if they are anti-tyranny, anti-crime and anti-corruption in nature. Uganda, Ethiopia and Nigeria still have serious problems compared to the west, but compared to some of their neighbours they are modern stable nations where a person can expect never to see war and on the same road as other developping nations across the globe. There have been improvements it is just taking a long time. For certain in 2 or 3 lifetimes african nations who's governments are not centerred on natural resources and have ended economy trashing wars will have experienced a similiar period of growth as nations such as India and the Phillipines. Nothing as spectacular as Japan or China's current growth, these nations are corrupt shitholes after all.
