Libertarians = Evangelicals in power.

What are you trying to say? Libertarians are a bunch of fundies who want to stamp on people's liberties? Evangelicals are americans too and have the right to say what they want. You may not like them, but would you rather they vote Republican?

"Because libertarians tend to be younger and better educated than the average voter, they’re not going away."

Maybe these fundies are a little less lemming-like and are dismayed by some of bush's policies.

I wasn't implying anything like that! If you read the article it is stated that self-described libertarians are as big a part of the population as self-described evangelicals, hence the headline...

The point of the article didn't say that libertarians were stamping on people's liberties.  The libertarian party is the pro-liberty party.  The whole point of the article was that recent republican policies (overspending, cracking down on marijuana users, the war in iraq, unconstitutional wiretapping, etc etc) have been unpopular with libertarians, and have been hurting republicans in the elections.

Nice article Xel.  I think the title/subject you gave this thread is possibly a bit misleading though.
