What's the point of conservatism?

If one tries to keep everything the same how can there be any improvement?

well, conservatism is just like, evolution rather than revolution, don't throw away things and ideas that are proved and tested for something you don't know what is, maybe slowly evolve towards that thing so it is possible to monitor the change, and as to not make people uncomfortable.
