the pendulum might actually be swinging back now. let's just hope the dems dont slack off. no more blaming the lack of solutions on the fact the reps have majority in congress.

Name: Anonymous 2006-11-03 5:01

It's more like anything but Republican time.

I feel sorry for anyone inheriting the current mess.

Name: Anonymous 2006-11-03 5:30

you have to hand it to the reps. They can piss on your leg and tell you it's raining, but when the management changes, they'll be like 'hey, is that piss on your leg? those bastards!'

anyone who says bush and his team are stupid aren't looking at it the right way. i think they're brilliant at what they do. horrible and disgusting, but brilliant. Bush is a yale graduate with a silver spoon grafted to the side of his mouth, do you really think he talks like that? do you really think he has ALWAYS talked like that? He was very eliquent and somewhat moderate when he was governor. As soon as he rose to the presidents seat, the good ol' boy persona came outta the wazoo. Make no mistake, Bush and rumsfeld are not stupid. they know exactly what they're doing, and they know they can get away with it. They've got this country so wound up, it's come to the point that if asked a question about a document -any document, whether or not they've actually read it- they can say they've never seen or read it and the question dies right then and there and no one will do shit about it.
Deny throught their teeth and lie like a rug, as long as it's not in front of congress they can say they just misspoke. How can you nail a person for lying when they've convinced themselves and everyone around them the lie is the truth?
Republicans are bat-shit insane, and there's a certain power and drive in that.

Thats a pretty good stretch considering the last democrat in the White House lied under oath and was disbarred for it. And every Democrat in congress supported him.
Democrats dont even take responsibility for their own votes anymore. If things go wrong its because somebody fooled them or misled them, or lied to them. Buck up, dickheads. If you cant lead, go home.

Name: Anonymous 2006-11-06 1:14

And the current guy isn't lying constantly?

Yeah, lying over getting your balls licked is just as evil as lying so you can trash the economy, get people killed, and the world hating ya.

I just can't wait till the creditors come knockin'.

Buck up, dickhead. Vote anything but Repub.

But, hey, I guess it's okay if he's one of your guys, amirite? Partisanship at its most pathetic.

How about voting libertarians. Democraps suck as much as republicans.

Right on, dude! But hey; can we please stop calling them "Democraps"? At first it was cute, but now it's just straight up gay. Gay like a thousand cocks stuffed up some old queen's parched anus. Yes: Even gayer than your dike ass mom.

Libertarians: lower tax, fewer services = balanced
Democrats: higher tax, more services = balanced
Republicans: lower tax, more services = ???

Remember kids, 1 + 1 is not 2!

Name: 2blu2scru 2006-11-07 5:50

actually the proper mathimatical interpertation is 1 and 1 is 11, 1 + 1 = any possible number from 1 to infinity

Changing representations doesn't change the underlying quantities.

But being gay redneck I'm far gayer than that, so it's only natural for me to use that term.

Name: Anonymous 2006-11-09 21:15

"Buck up, dickhead. Vote anything but Repub."

I'd rather vote republican than democrat, but I'd rather vote libertarian than either.  The solution is for people like you to enter a votepact (http://www.counterpunch.org/husseini10192006.html) and quit bitching.

Not all republicans are like that.  We need some of the old-style conservatives in office who REALLY believed in the small-state, and rolled back a lot of stupid programs, while slashing taxes at the same time.

poster of >>4 here.

yeah well the thing is, i have been and will always be very disappointed with clinton because of that. it was a bullshit investigation but he fed right into it. instead of being the bigger man, just admitting the affair and taking his blows, he made more trouble for himself and fucked up his second term. i still support him as a whole, but i do agree that he was VERY wrong in lying about his relationship with monika. I think most democrats take pretty much the same stance, in that we supported clinton all around except for that black spot, and a large one at that.

But considering the circumstance and context, bush is far more in the red than clinton ever was. Bush's only saving grace is that he hasn't knowingly lied in front of congress, and the dems are so far too chicken shit to try to catch him on the variety of things he's been doing wrong. Yeah clinton lied, but that's it. he shouldn't have done it, but no one was harmed in the process (save a stained blue dress and his name).

Bush, on the other hand, supports policies that harm thousands, if not millions of people around the would and in the US. his lies, or cherry picked intelligence, or misleading of congress or whatever you wanna call it, has lead us into a war with seemingly no end. Every rational he props up to keep the fight going is subsiquently knocked down to give way to an even more BS reason. where is it now? it was WMD's, then overthrowing saddam, then liberation of iraqi people, then wmd's for a short while when we found the expired serin canisters, then now i think we're actually at oil.

So if it's a choice between a stupid lie about a sexual affair, and misleading a country into a war, i think i'll take the stained dress.

If President Clinton had told the court that was none of their business I could have supported that. I won't support the president of the United Staes lying under oath , or knowingly lying to the american people.
Since the election is over, the oposition should be able to admit that President Bush may have been mistaken about the wmd's but there is no reason to believe that he knowingly lied, cherry picked intelligence, or knowingly misled congress.
The wmd's were assumed to be there because saddam and his
people wanted everyone to believe he had them and intentionally ran a bluff on the world. It is nonsense to believe he fooled everybody in the world BUT President Bush.
By the way, al quida is very happy with the outcome of the elections and wishes you all the best.

so lying about a BJ is worse than saying that they know where all the WMDs are and has exactly pinpointed them so they could go in and remove them? I think not.

3.5k deaths and rising vs a sexual act.

"  The wmd's were assumed to be there because saddam and his

really? i'd like to see a source where saddam claimed to have nuclear weapons, or a program for them. many people in both our intel agencies and the brits knew he had nothing, and were vocal about it to the president, but were ignored in favor for those saying there were weapons, no matter how unfounded. let's also not forget that iraq was a target of the US long before 9/11.

i mean, where's the yellow cake from africa? where are the mobile bio-labs? where's the store houses of nerve agents and sarin gas that are still weapons grade? these are all things president bush said he knew saddam had. this is a case of, like i said, either cherry picked intel, horribly bad intel, misleading or outright lying. saddam did nothing to make as if he had any of that stuff, and if he did, it came from us when we were still buddy buddy with him almost a decade ago if not longer.

yeah clinton lied under oath, knowingly lied to the american people, and i do not support him in the least for those actions.
But considering it was within a sexual affair investigation, i dont think in the long run the lie did anything but to scare his name as president. i mean, of all the things to lie about that could potentially effect america and it's standing in the world,  'i did not have sex with that woman' isn't gonna cause a whole hellava lot of damage. no one but the president himself was harmed by this lie.
so it's a little unrealistic to me to compare a proven lie about a relativley unimportant thing from one president, over taking our country on a goose hunt war for which there was no planned way out by another president, even though there is no proven lie (yet).

I'm sure we'll drop everything we're doing and do another election to make sure we're not somehow making the terrorists happy... yeah ok. ever cross your mind that it didn't matter what party won, the terrorists wouldn't really be worried? considering how things have gone so far, i doubt they'd be running around worried if the reps still had control over congress.

We are liberating the Iraqi people.  Those 3.5 thousand people died for a good cause, no?

Name: Anonymous 2006-11-12 3:36

well, considering this wasn't the reason we went there to begin with, and then you need to ask whether or not we're actually providing any means for stability in that region which it doesn't seem like we are. then top that with the general fact they went in understaffed and underfunded, with no realistic plan to deal with the sudden power vaccume and the already heavy problems with the lack of utilities and the general cultural divides within the country. no not really.
