Japan knew what it was in for when it bombed pearl harbour. The Japanese, especially older Japanese hold a grudge against the US, but it isn\'t the paranoid thought stopping hate you liberals love to see against the US. It\'s a romantic grudge directed at the futility and horror of war, much like England and France had against the Germans with the marshall plan even though their country was ruined. War is a tragedy, you pour resources in it and you can\'t exact reparations once it\'s over because the people who owe you are dead and all that\'s left is a war torn bunch of civilians in poverty. Nuremburg trials, yes. Reparations, no.
This sounds absurd to a Marxist who thinks everything should be equalled out, but you are wrong about everything so that doesn\'t matter. It is utilitarian not to heavy handedly persecute innocents for questionable acts in the past, it serves no purpose. You punish someone to stop them from doing it again and serve as a deterant. What punishment should be served to America for using nuclear weapons to stop a world war 50 years ago?
