Your stance on illegal aliens

First, let me give you some background on my situation. My parents came to this country, illegally, and brought me along. I was only like 2-3 years old at the time, so I had no say in the matter. Needless to say, my life has been so fucked up ever since I turned 16. For all of the people around me, turning 16 meant getting a drivers license and a job. Me? I couldn't do either. Two years later, graduation. For everyone else, it's off to a university. Me? Crappy community college because I wasn't accepted into any universities as a result of my status.

I feel like my life is on hold because of all the limitations that are imposed upon me. I know that some of you are probably asking, "Why don't you go back to your country?", but I feel like this IS my country. I've lived here practically my whole life and know no other way of life. To tell you the truth, I think I'd be so lost and depressed if I were to be taken away from the way of life that I've grown accustomed to.

I'll be the first to admit that my parents were wrong for coming here illegally. They broke the law. It wasn't fair for them to skip ahead of all of those people that were trying to get here legally. But at the same time, the system that is in place right now is so fucked up that if I were in the same situation, I'd probably do the same thing. The long waiting period, the ridiculous amount of money needed, all the paper work who even the people who wrote it probably don't understand. It's all fucked up.

So, what's your opinion on this whole thing? Are you against the presence of illegal aliens, for it, or just don't give a fuck?

Whenever people claim that some political issue is so simple, you need to wonder how much thought they devote to the issue, or the people involved. Dictating from the sidelines is one thing, personal experience is something completely different.

Liberals seem to use that argument a lot. That people should be excused for committing certain crimes. The people of the US, many of them immigrants or 1st generation immigrants, voted that there be a cap to the amount of immigration to the country. That means illegal immigration is a crime. If they wanted more immigration they would make their views known and the political parties would promies to increase LEGAL immigration.

I\'m sorry you have to be \"punished\" by going to live in Mexico, but people in the US value a high standard of living. Maybe when the world realises overpopulation and rapid population growth decreases the GDP per capita and that this is wrong we will allow more immigration.

There is just too fucking many poor people in the world, the USA can't fucking take all of them.  Even if we took in a hundred million a year, we wouldn't put a dent in the population of the 3rd world, while we would simultaneously have a huge decrease in standard of living, and would have a huge impact on the lives of americans already here legally. 

The solution to poverty is the new world order. We must get rid of the world\'s tyrants since they are the real thieves forcing people into poverty.

If you had developed a vast amount of relationships with people (friends, for example), and you became comfortable in where you are, would you object to being forcibly repatriated to Mexico? If you escaped a life and took refuge in the US, where media and the government constantly parade it as being the land of opportunity, would you object to being forcibly repatriated to Mexico? Perhaps you have a girlfriend/boyfriend, would you object to being forcibly parted from them?

Too many people are saying "it's black and white, he came here illegally, he should be removed." But nothing is simply black and white. He came here as an infant, he grew up with Americans, he probably even gave the oath at the start of every day/week in school. He's a product of the American school system, he theoretically has the same education until tertiary level as the rest of the country. He grew up as an American. His parents might've kept their culture running through him, but he's probably just as American as the rest of you. His only problem is he doesn't have a piece of paper saying he's allowed to be in the US.

Yes, being repatriated to Mexico might even be good for him, but that should be for him to decide. Not the state.

It comes down to this: Should we punish children for the mistakes of their parents?
