Your stance on illegal aliens

First, let me give you some background on my situation. My parents came to this country, illegally, and brought me along. I was only like 2-3 years old at the time, so I had no say in the matter. Needless to say, my life has been so fucked up ever since I turned 16. For all of the people around me, turning 16 meant getting a drivers license and a job. Me? I couldn't do either. Two years later, graduation. For everyone else, it's off to a university. Me? Crappy community college because I wasn't accepted into any universities as a result of my status.

I feel like my life is on hold because of all the limitations that are imposed upon me. I know that some of you are probably asking, "Why don't you go back to your country?", but I feel like this IS my country. I've lived here practically my whole life and know no other way of life. To tell you the truth, I think I'd be so lost and depressed if I were to be taken away from the way of life that I've grown accustomed to.

I'll be the first to admit that my parents were wrong for coming here illegally. They broke the law. It wasn't fair for them to skip ahead of all of those people that were trying to get here legally. But at the same time, the system that is in place right now is so fucked up that if I were in the same situation, I'd probably do the same thing. The long waiting period, the ridiculous amount of money needed, all the paper work who even the people who wrote it probably don't understand. It's all fucked up.

So, what's your opinion on this whole thing? Are you against the presence of illegal aliens, for it, or just don't give a fuck?

I have no problem with immigration, but I think it should be slowed down for a couple reasons..

1.  See >>6.  I like the idea of capitalism, and yes it should apply to the workforce as well, but I think it should apply to the workforce HERE in the United States, not our population, as well as the population of every other country in the world.

2.  Time should be given for 'assimilation' to occur.  People who come here should be given time to become american, and to make them lose touch with their old nationality, and become americans.  In other words, waving Mexican flags around isn't something true blue loyal americans would or should be doing, they should be AMERICAN flags, if any.  When huge numbers of people who are still more loyal to Mexico as a nation than to the USA as a nation come here and reside here, gaining say in the American government... well I just view that as a bad thing.  People who live here and participate in our government should be loyal to our country, and our nation, not a foreign one.

3.  Our national sovereignty should remain protected.  If a nation has no borders, is it still a sovereign nation?

I favor a big wall on the southern border.  Not much else is needed imo, I think that would take care of it.  Don't stop ALL immigration, just slow it down so it doesn't have too much of an impact on the people already here, so that it gives the time needed for immigrants to become american to become american, and preserve the borders to keep us distinct from other countries as a nation.  Erosion of borders equates to erosion of sovereignty.
