It would be nice if the actions of those guys were unbelievable, but what they are attempting (and failing) to do is all too believable.
They come across as selfish, self centred, insecure cowardly and very hypocritical. I only wish that that the porn scenarios that they value so highly that so often contain the degradation, humiliation and suffering of women could actually be a daily occurrence for them. I wish they could be the female in the porn films. I doubt they would enjoy being repeatedly raped on camera for the pleasure of other people. See how they feel when they realise that no one cares about their feelings, that orgasms are more important than the suffering of human beings.
I truly think that the both the overt messages and the insidious messages that porn purposely contains is helping to validate these men’s hateful and violent feeling towards women.
Just as the images of child rape help the people who enjoy the rape of children to feel ok about their sadistic urges (I don’t call it child porn, all images of children in sexual acts are rape and anyone who doesn’t think so has the mind set of a paedophile, even the law agrees with me on this one, thank god), so too do the images of porn help the male to feel ok about their urges to dominate, to humiliate or to hurt women.

I picture some kid sitting down to his computer in his filthy room (that I'm sure no girl has ever been in), full of smug anticipation at seeing his childish insult in your comments. Then I imagine his impotent pre-pubescent rage at discovering that he's been denied. I'm almost embarrassed at how happy their suffering makes me.
You do a very significant thing when you delete their comments, BB; you demonstrate for all the world that they are powerless. They are weak, stupid, pathetic losers. Your simple act of denying them shows then just how ineffectual they are. They can't flame you. They can't make your readers uncomfortable. They can't get a foothold on your forum, much less take it over. Their free speech doesn't extend to your blog and they are helpless to change it. Their mouths are clamped shut and there is nothing they can do about it. They are powerless, and being shown that they are powerless hurts them very much.
Keep up the good work!

In the future, you may want to, instead of deleting their posts, edit them. Change the words they are saying.
Make them say things in support of your site, etc.
Nothing pisses them off more than simply changing their words.

Sometimes people who sign my guestbook accuse me of not presenting "the other side" - that is, the pro-porn argument.
My answer is, when every porn site on the internet includes a chapter or two of Dworkin alongside the photos, that's when I'll start including the other side on o.a.g.

Well, don't go to the depot, then. All the loser magnet sites have "pwnd!" it up with their hate and porn images and it's basically become a free hosting site for it.
Because, you know, when invader achoo inserts an image a hundred times, that makes it a hundred times more poignant.
We get it. We know you "women lovers" hate the women who surround the holes you feel you'd be so entitled to when you reach puberty. You'd think it was news or something and we're all supposed to faint with the shock of it all.
Same old shit from the same old pathetic losers. Next?

I was not sure what I originally thought about moderated comments at first... I guess I have always enjoyed how the 'net was wide open and "freedom of speech" reigned supreme. Now, I have to say that I LOVE that you moderate comments. It's true -- DotBB *is* a safe place, and I've never had to deal with the crap that you must have to wade through on a daily or hourly basis. You are SO appreciated for doing that for us, BB, so that we don't have to see the crap that we know full well is out there.
And nothing is more fun than knowing they are out there squirming around pissed off because their precious opinions aren't being heard by us. HAHA! Go somewhere where your opinions are wanted, dirtbags!

I can only say that I'm embarassed for the actions of the web community, which I have occasionally browsed as well.
First, their goals are to suppress free speech when it is provocative, and secondly, their method is an insult to their own intellect.
I do myself feel provoked by some of your comments, though. Sex is a part of life for those that are willing, and evidently most people, man and woman alike, are. Why is pictorial description of it supposedly always profoundly evil? Whenever I watch pornography, it's a definite turn-off when the woman is e.g. called names or humiliated in any other way. Still, having read these sites, I feel excessive amounts guilt for watching a woman perform in porn of any kind - only after watching it, which makes me suffer doubly - not only can I not control the occasional sexual desire but lament following it exceedingly afterwards. What is, finally, the difference between prostitution and pornography, the former being an extension of an individual's own right to do what he wishes with his body?
Also, is every woman who finds some acts that are condemned by daytime society enjoyable necessarily brainwashed by male influence, or could the fondness possibly be genuine in some?

Yesterday I found this site linked from 4chan. I've been reading all of BB's essays and user comments and find them to be intelligent and accurate observations. Before then I was whacking it to anime girls. So if the author is reading this, I'd like some in depth analysis of hentai pictures, because I convince myself they're "better" than real porn because no real people are used, but situations are portrayed far more extreme than real porn, while unrealistic female figures are emphasized and idealised. The same criticism that what men think turns on a woman is the same as what actually does turn her on is seen here, but you might find some realistic images that portray realistic female responses.
This will require a lot of research if you haven't been exposed to much of it, but 4chan is an excellent resource. New images are posted regularly, each board has several pages with comments, with each board representing a category. Your view on the different drawings and user comments would provide some insightful information. Here's an overview:
Yuri which is girl-girl and mostly consensual, but might not be realistic lesbianism.
These are the more acceptable types of images. There are some out there that focus on grotesque female mutiliation and gore, or sex with adolescents or toddlers, but these are usually shunned and not widely accepted.
The /h/ and /e/ boards are viewed the most by guys. The girl-girl or boy-boy images may be more acceptable to female viewers, or considered as erotica rather than porn.

BB: It is absolutely STAGGERING how virulent the pro-pron folks are about protecting their whack-off material. I mean really !!! (in the voice of Aunt Bea). I am really sorry you have to read their BS. Why do these guys find actual women so threatening? Don't they KNOW any?
Most of the men I know in my life are Rock Musicians (well, rock and punk rock), and they aren't threatened by women and are very nice and usually, genuinely feminist. Artists in general tend to be more progressive, though, both in terms of racism and feminism, than the general population....usually moreso than their fans, as well !! Eddie Vedder once told me that as fame increases, "the quality of fan you get decreases, until you don't even want to go out and play for them, because it seems like all your fans are DICKS."
Unfortunatly, my fan base has always been small enough to consist of mostly cool people ha ha

Isn't the point of "freedom of speech" that people can speak out against or challenge the Government freely ?
Yet it has become so twisted into this awful idea that (for the powerful) anything goes, whether words or deeds, and regardless of consequences or the rights of other humans to their autonomy and dignity.
How can people honestly belive that that sort of abuse is what is sanctioned for them, simply by crying "freedom" ?

Since you've taken the effort visit the site and make a comment, why not try actually reading some of the material that's here? You'll get the idea through your porn-infested head that pornography is decidedly NOT a "pictorial description" of sex. The word you're looking for is actually rape. It is a pictorial description of rape.
For the other anonymous, no I'm not interested in looking at your pornography pictures, and they will not be changing anyone's mind around here soon. That you have to "convince" yourself that you're less of an asshole and somehow better than the other assholes who are masturbating to images of real women's degradation should send you a bit of a hint that what you're doing is no less inappropriate or degrading to women. Moreover, that you're sharing your masturbation habits with the world should be indicative of the depravity of your psyche. Lastly, do you not think that there might be a connection between how you view real women and those in your fantasy cartoons, that somehow you're not going to be looking for what you consider to be an "idealized" woman based on what you masturbate to, which will affect your ability to relate to actual women who don't meet up to your standards?
I'm having a really hard time deciding which one of you disgusts me more.

I have a question (I'm asking this out of genuine curiosity - I'm not trying to troll)
How do you feel about gay porn (i.e. male on male)? I guess what I'm asking is whether you view all pornography as exploitative, or only that which depicts females. I do, for the record, agree that 95% of the time, the way females are treated in porn is misogynistic and disgusting.
Also for the record, I am a gay male. Almost all of my friends are female, or other gay males. Almost all of them are pro-porn; I personally have mixed feelings on the issue (girls posting erotic pictures of themselves for instance doesn't bother me though I detest "mainstream" porn).
Honestly I'm kind of afraid of posting this - I found this site via 4chan but I hope you don't hold that against me - I don't want to be lumped in with those guys (I'm not posting my real email out of fear of them attacking me). I do respect your opinions and I admire your courage in endorsing what is unfortunately an unpopular opinion. Thank you for reading this, I look forward to your reply.

I can give you my observations on these pictures, but they would be filtered through a male lense. When a female can recognize when another female is being hurt in porn or just faking it the whole time, and a male is lead to believe the experience is enjoyment, then he has only a vague understanding of realism. The female knows what works and what doesn't because she is female, and knows how another would feel. A male can only guess, and assume, and even justify that something might feel great because he assumes females have pleasurable nerve endings everywhere on their body. Anything can be illustrated in this way- a woman orgasming from lactation, rough vaginal sex, or being covered in sperm. This is the male bias that "it must feel good because I assume it does." If a female is 100% knowledgable of what's realistic for another female to be feeling, then a male might be 15-30%, seeing some images as realistic, some as unrealistic, and some as impossible, but viewing the somewhat realistic images as a turn on because they are acceptable in this fantasy view of reality. The female who sees none of the images as realistically acceptable could dismiss all images, unless some were portayed accurately, or fulfilled some fantasy like a romantic or erotic novel would. Images can be drawn in a way that femaes appreciate them, though the majority are male-centric.
Women still become chairs and objects, and much of it is clearly inspired by mainstream live action porn. The essay on how many enslaved women is worth one orgasm applies here, as no women are being used, therefore it's ethically better than using real women right? But if not directly, it can hurt women indirectly, by changing male opinions on what's pleasurable, giving unrealistic anatomical expectations, and saying women like to be treated like objects. So drawn porn can be just as bad as real porn for its effect on people's behavior.
Exclude the male-female sex images and look at the pinup, cheesecake, T&A poses called ecchi. As with BB's post about all halloween costumes looking like whores, does the same apply here? A man could say they're showing their beauty without being used or raped by a man, therefore it's better than images of sex. The women are nude or wear skimpy outfits, but show comfort wearing them, always appearing happy or confident. A female would recognize the lack of anatomical realism, dismissing the large breasts as painful and not even possible. But what about the females with realistic breasts who wear revealing clothing? Is it possible for women to feel confident wearing such clothing without feeling like a whore? Can a woman wear these clothes on a day to day basis regularly in a world where they wouldn't be judged by men or called a whore? If no men were around , could they still feel confident about what they're wearing while being nude or partially nude in public, in daily life, or in a non-sexual context?
For the criticism of "lesbian" porn, do the images of girl-girl scenes seem more realistic or just male oriented? Do the images portray lesbian behavior better than girl-girl porn? Would a lesbian find them acceptable? Could a female appreciate them?
Girls I've talked to about hentai will avoid the above but view male-male images instead. The images portray a level of caring and compassion between two men, but are not explicit. They avoid closeup shots or cum baths that would be present in male-female images. From the female perspective, are these images better than the other types of images? Or do they have the same problems as other porn- unrealistic expectations of pleasure, objectification, skewed sense of realism, etc?
I'm not asking for knee jerk reactions, but well written observations. What details do you notice? What do you think the characters would be feeling? What do you think the viewer would be feeling? What are your reactions when you make yourself analyze an image that you would normally avoid?

With reference to what is being said in the comments about hentai.
I came across a hentai section of an anime forum (why I looked in it I don't know, must be the same reason I watch the 700 Club - makes me angry) and people were openly asking for rape related stuff, or defending toddlers being in the anime.
I'm just shocked that these people don't think it reflects badly on their own mental state that they get off on such things. Just because people aren't involved in the actions doesn't mean it's harmless for the viewers and those who are around them. If I saw somebody I was involved with watching such things I'd want to be out of there in a flash because it/they would scare me.
I've seen one, apparently mild, hentai. Mission of Darkness. It was foul. I bought it for a friend in my pre-feminist days as a joke, but when I saw it I felt sick. I can't imagine how the rest of the genre must be since I bought this one from the high street.
Sorry for that somewhat irrelevant rant.
Thank you for keeping this a safe place.

I'm sorry but...is this some kind of grooming exercise from anonymi?
We're given a load of porn sites to look at under the pretext that "they're better than real porn because no real people are used" and he (for want of a better pro-noun) thinks that this shite might bear any relation to 'The same criticism that what men think turns on a woman is the same as what actually does turn her on is seen here"??
FOR FUCKS SAKE MAN! CONNECT WITH REAL WOMEN ONCE IN A WHILE! IT'LL DO YOU GOOD!
Christ on a bike BB. I'll understand if you don't let this one through.
Imbecillic 'men' who believe the pornographic lie about women - and themselves - really deserve a slapping of the worst kind. Guys, think about being photographed/cartooned for posterity whilst taking a 'mansized' dildo up your arse - think about how that might make you feel - before you infict your enviable member (or is that member envy?) on anyone else, huh?
Gods.

No, this is the "dumbfuck my humanity died years ago" bias. Anybody with half a brain could see that what is being done to WOMEN (where do you get off on calling women "females", is that another way of distancing yourself from us?) being used in those situations is painful and degrading. In fact you're telling a big fat fucking lie because it's the degradation you like: that's what's turning you on - knowing that what is being done to her is unpleasant and painful - that's the thrill for you.
The word for someone who gets off on the pain and degradation of others is sadist. Maybe you should say it in front of the mirror a few times.
And why the fuck are you linking to porn from a website that has been busy hacking every anti-porn feminist it can find, at an anti-porn blog? Do you really think we're stupid enough to link to it?
"I'm not asking for knee jerk reactions, but well written observations."
Fuck off, I hope you get nothing here.
BB, I think this is just another perv trying to get his jollies in a more "educated" way. Getting women to talk in detailed ways about porn when he is trying to control the conversation with his questions is wank-fodder for some pervs. I'd say it was the on-line equivalent of a dirty phonecall.

so, by now i've reviewed all the *hidden* comments that o.a.g., NPP, and BB got from 4chan people, and as someone with a master's degree in counseling, i can say that the people who wrote them seem to fit the definition of sociopath.
that is: a personality disorder that is characterized by antisocial behavior exhibiting pervasive disregard for and violation of the rights, feelings, and safety of others starting in childhood or the early teenage years and continuing into adulthood, that is often marked by a lack of remorse for having hurt, mistreated, or stolen from others, and that in practice is often difficult to diagnose because it is confounded with disorders in which drug addiction or substance abuse is a factor called also psychopathic personality disorder.
in summary, not something to be proud of.

Sorry you're having to deal with all this BB, it sucks that you can't just block them. They're the sort who'll never be swayed, never realize that Women are valueable human beings who deserve to be treated with respect and dignity just for being fellow Human Beings. I think, a person may not deserve the title Human if they are not willing to at least look past their own biases and consider the consiquences and ramifications of their beliefs and actions on others. To be Human, you must first be Humane, key ingrediants of which are compassion, empathy, and the ability to actually THINK about what you're saying rather than chant a rabid Dogma. That is the main difference between folks like us and folks like them. We've stopped, examined, thought, and wondered. We decided against, with our minds and with our hearts, for good and moral reasons. Using our Humanity and our humane-ness. And they, for some selfish reasons, are unable to. I wish you the best, and the best to others who are facing this trouble.
