Why do police ask for your religion?

I was arrested for sitting on a park bench on October 30th and they asked what religion I was.

I don't see how that's relative to anything at all, even a hate crime, seeing as what religion you are is irrelevant to your actions within your crime.

Jews did wtc and own all the banks so they dont get stopped, muslims are all terrorists and black nationalists, buddhists are either illegal immigrant sweatshop workers or arrogant liberals who think they are the incarnation of vishnu, christians have to be discriminated against to appease liberals and hindus are dirty peace loving hippies, atheists worship nietszchszzhcshcse and are either arrogant liberals who think they are ubermenschscshh or nazis who think they are superhumans, agnostics are lazy.
