Pornography is vile and disgusting, degrades women, and further legal attention may be needed for women.  The notion that it is simply a 'victimless crime' or a 'harmless freedom' is a dangerous one.  Pornography is harmful to women and women's rights.  Women have the right to live free of the fear of being raped, and free of being regarded as mere sex objects. 

Pornography firmly entrenches in people's minds the notion that women are mere sex objects or hunks of meat.  If we are to have a future in which the sexes are truly equal and a future in which women are respected, pornography must go.

Porn leads to a decrease in the overall pervertedness of a society, to be honest.  It does away with persistant curiosity, which puts an end to fixation. 

In other words, kids learn all about it from whatever source as kids, and just get on with their lives rather than being stuck thinking about it all the time.

Most rapists came from very "clean" households in very sheltered upbringing.

According to John Douglas, the *legendary FBI profilist*, rapists tend to fall into four basic categories: "power-reassurance rapist" (driven by feelings of *inadequacy*), the "exploitive" rapist (impulsive driven and overtly macho), the "anger" rapist (who uses sex to displace his rage), and the "sadistic" rapist, who gets aroused from sexual sadism."

So now that I look back at my sources I have to make a concession, a majority of rapists have macho-aspirations as a cause, *not* a sense of inferiority. However, it is a cause in the second-to-commonest type of rapist. What is most tragic is that they want normal relationships. This source is damning for contemporary pornography, since it is more likely to inspire and shape the erstwhile type; the "macho" man.

Inferiority is also a major cause of these macho aspirations...  There's a reason why an inferiority complex causes people to constantly want to prove their dominance over other people.  That you don't see this link is freaking weird to me.

Males are different from females.   They don't feel the need to be what society tells them to be as much as women do.  For example, men don't feel the need to be macho because they see such as the ideal in porn.  For a man, all porn is is a fantasy, something that doesn't touch their every day lives.

Then you've got the slashers, mostly girls, who like to involve male characters from books and other media in homosexual relationships....   Why?   BECAUSE THEY WANT TO RELATE, BUT DON'T WANT TO FEEL LIKE THE ACTS THEY DESCRIBE ARE AN IDEAL SET OUT FOR THEM. 

Now, given this, where does a man usually get his feelings of inferiority, and the connected desires to be macho?   Usually from trauma experienced in the past, or from some sort of imprint in his upbringing.  Maybe an overbearing mother, maybe someone pushed him down on the playground.  Maybe he went through years of sexual frustration during puberty and never understood his feelings, therefore expresses them in socially defunct ways.   Whatever the cause, porn isn't to blame.  If anything it's a counter-active force.

Besides, look at japan.  RAPES EVERYWHERE, AMIRITE?

Strange. Japan used to have a very anti-porn policy right after WWII and US occupation that lead to high rape rate. Now it is totally opposite and Japan happens to be as safe as the Netherlands.

It's up to the attitude on how should people perceive sexuality. In fact in Japan I have never heard any women got traumatized severely from groping. And Japan do have very low rape rate compare to other Western countries. And when underreported crimes are high, society doesn't function. Frankly I don't see the Japanese society isn't functioning.

Porn has existed for a long time. The cause of porn is inherant, feral masculinity. It's not the other way around. That would be stupid.

IIRC in those days, rape wouldn't have been told due to the shame. If anything a lot of the increased cases of rape report (RR, :S) are probably due to women's liberation as much as actual increases in crimes comitted.
