Tax cut for owning guns. What does everyone think of this idea?
Some country in Europe has mandatory gun ownership or something, or else it's just very very high there, and they even have military weapons. The crime rate is very low there.
This all makes sense anyways. If more homes in America are loaded, it makes it that much more dangerous to try and rob them.

Makes sense anyways. Citizens would be reducing crime, and ensuring their own safety in the process.

You should read a book called "The Not So Wild Wild West".

You're thinking about Switzerland where people get to take their assault rifles home with them after mandatory military service and they're all reservists until age 45 or so.
I don't think their crime rate is any lower than Germany's, which is just next door. It doesn't have anything to do with guns, it has something to do with the white people who live there not being as aggressive and stupid as niggers.

you can't honestly expect today's american culture to responsibly handle widespread gun ownership.
honestly.

We have widespread gun ownership right now. Last I checked, (and correct me if I'm wrong) but we have over 90 million lawful gun owners in the U.S., and we have more legally owned guns in the country than we have people. (likely due to individuals who collect, and own multiple guns.)
Gun ownership is at an all time high right now in the U.S. and the crime rate is plummetting.

I think, if anything, the absence of guns & gun rights is the problem, not that there are too many of them. Don't believe me? Just take a look at D.C.
If half the people on my block knew the other half were packing an assault rifle or a handgun, it would be MUCH quieter and peaceful around here.
A well armed society is a peaceful society.

Because, as we all know, correlation proves causation.

It doesn't matter. The facts are that there is simply no reasonable basis to have gun control right now, with the exception of background checks. We should dump all the restrictions we have right now, but especially that ban in the eighties. Seriously, what a god damn pain in the ass .. and it ruined what respect I had for Ronald Reagan.
Want an example of what'll happen to the country if we have widespread increased gun control? Take a look at D.C. Murder capital of the USA, and crime is up 200%.
For some reason, the democrats keep showing opposition to lifting the D.C. gun ban. (Hmm...)

The reaction exhibited by many in the USA is understandable. For many, guns are a hobby.
For me, I like to play video games. I'd be pretty pissed off if the government started saying certain video games were inciting too much violence, and decided to ban the FPS genre of video games.
Likely, no matter how bad the other guy was, I'd vote in favor of my games. Can you blame the gun rights folks? (Not to mention, there is really no reasonable case for gun control at all.. it's completely pointless at best, and if anything, the crime situation is worsened by it.)
The purpose of the 2nd amendment is so that the public can be armed and prevent the government from turning into a tyranny or fight a guerilla war if it ever does. The fact that the Democrats want to ban guns gives away their true intentions concerning the plight of the poor, what will stop the rich from oppressing the poor if they poor can do jack shit about it?

If everyone had gun there would be far less violent crimes and serial killers would be stopped quickly. This is hard fact. Gun accidents could be kept low by educating kids about gun safety and handling. Now what would somewhat increase is dispute related gun deaths and, but then again no-one forces you to be so asshole that someone's willing to kill you. Ofcourse gun suicides would inrease too, but is that really bad thing at all? Like we all know a gun is tool and no tool causes crimes. Taking away guns won't take away those problems. Instead of creating false "security" with gun control how about focusing on real problems?

That's cause "liberal" democrats(and neo-conservative republicans) don't really know jack of shit what they're doing, but they don't care either. They're just pawns of more sinister agenda to turn America into police state. Now it's doubtful does that agenda even exist, but what I have seen in my life makes me think so. Seems to be corporate in origin.
