Year after year the US has been sending funds to Israel, supporting its military, and allowing congress to be bribed by Israeli lobby groups. Now would be the perfect time to reject Israel and its lobbyists, condemn its actions, and stop funding a military that the international community finds reprehensible.
Oh wait, we still believe Israel is the land of God's chosen people, meant to exist until the apocalypse begins, allowing Jesus to return and fulfill the book of Revelations, waging war on the Satan controlled armies of Middle Eastern terrorists. So until that day comes, it looks like we'll still be sending them money and offering our support.
I'm actually listening to the armageddon viewpoint on CNN right now.

there are a lot of reasons to support Israel
- they produce 1.28% of the world's scientific papers and make a lot of new technology. this alone probably pays off those 2 billion in grants
- they are the only jewish state in the world as opposed to the 22 muslims states
- they are the only successful secular democracy in the middle east
- we have a common enemy - islamic fundamentalists
and finally
- it's surrounded by people who want to destroy Israel and kill all the jews (cf. Hamas charter) - cutting American support would be like a death sentence

So sending billions to Israel doesn't affect our national debt at all, because we make it back all the time?

Grants to Israel are 1/3 of the money you just give away (to like Egypt, Jordan, Palestine,...). Certainly you get far more back from Israel than from other places, but everyone focuses on Israel because they hate da joooooos

>>2 Yup, all those Islamic states and they never amount to anything close to what the Israelis have done under immense pressure. Partially this is because of western involvement and destruction, but we must not forget the tribalism, the hierarchies and the fact that in some cases half the population isn't allowed to contribute.
Then again, the Israelis got a short-sighted deal that was very much to their favor, and their relative superiority came at the expense of their conscience and victimhood as they resorted to torture, oppression, gentrification, brutality and debasement as a collective punisher and mollifyer. Conservatives can talk all they want about Islam being territorial and intrinsically violent, but we should try to put ourselves in the Palestinian position; imagine hearing about a guy in your class having his arm broken and jumped on just because he was accused of throwing rocks at a bulldozer mowing down his uncle's house. I can't approve of any part in the conflict, although I can not disapprove of the existence of the Israeli state, sung in excess though it may be by the neos. I think the entire conception was shitty, and before any side could denounce their pathetic religious convictions and maschismo, they started a vicious circle that drew everybody out of a reasonable position. Both sides, both ethnicities and religions are essentially making a sort of broth out of each other, and instead of getting out of the pot they are trying to strangle each other. Pitiful but very human and forgivable, if you ask me.
I sincerely hope that Israel hasn't bitten off more than it can chew now, because I can't see the American public not making the same pendulum swing towards isolationism as they did after WW II. That would be understandable, considering how little the stripping of education, facilities and utilities has amounted to. This is on the other hand exactly what neos and right-leaning libertarians like - the military eclipsing the social expenditures at a time of great strain upon the safety-net system could cause a collapse comparable to IX XI, leaving the population searching for an immediate, attractive alternative (with some fine print that no one has time to read). I think many companies are awaiting that crisis with the same anticipation as the zionists and evangelicals did once they realized that IX XI was as probable and suggested as it was.
I think Wolfowitz tried to destroy the Saudis by flooding the market with US-controlled oil from Afg. and Irq., and by choosing such poor targets and failing to consider the ramifications and risks, he may have denied Israel its only sincere ally in what could be an insurmountable task.
Meanwhile, Iran is making that nuke. Has anyone read that document that details how we almost faced nuclear holocaust during the Cold War save for one American submarine commander? We can't take anything for granted thanks to religion and Socialist Europea's dependence on others. then there's China and India.
Being 17 and without genetical diseases, I think there is a high chance I'll see the greatest conflict since WW II during my lifetime. Also, if I sound like a conspiracy theorist, I apologize. I am perfectly ready to shape my positions and opinions should heavier facts or better analyses come my way.

Yeah not really. Most Israelis have no problems with muslims or arabs.
Hell Israel probably wouldn't even have an army if the arabs would behave like normal human beings.
Instead the grand mufti orders his followers to kill all jews and the arab league declares total war on Israel on the same day that it was declared to exist.
As much as all the antisemites would like all Israelis to voluntarily jump into the sea and drown, it won't happen. Israel exists and will continue to exist, it's right to do so asserted by the 400+ nukes under the sea on submarines. just let them try anything

>>6 Yeah, I think the Muslim response was very short-sighted, but so was the territorial 'deal'. Maybe the response was caused by Islamist machismo, or by human nature. I dunno, but I do want to find out.

American funded territories always work out fine. Just look at the Shah of Iran. The whole country was run peacefully through totalitarianism until it was overthrown by a fundamentalist claiming to be sent from God. I don't see why other Islamic countries have to be so resilient to US control.

>>8 I was wondering if you were ironic or not. You had me worried. The problem is that US claim to be a bastion and sprinkler of democracy does not stand up to scrutiny. The torturers after Mossadegh knew where to hit (soles of the feet, inner thighs et al.) beacuse they had been educated by the CIA, who in turn got their specialization by the 400-or-so german 'scientists' flown from the holocaust camps after WWII. Also, America was quick to criticize when India attacked Pakistan in 19...71 (I think) and punished Vietnam severely when they got rid of the Khmer Rouge (Cambodia 1978). I do believe that America's 'soft power' is much preferable to it's military force...

Unfortunately there are times when giving people flowers and asking for peace doesn't work (such as when dealing with islamic fundamentalists), at which point I'm glad that america has a very effective war machine that can be brutal if it needs to be.

A couple of people who herd families around their missile launchers so when they get bombed they can use their dismemberred corpses as propoganda are getting electro zapped so that the US military can prevent more iraqi civilians getting murderred, oh boo hoo, pass the kleenex.
If you love them so much what are you doing here whining? Why not go over to Iraq, find them and ask to be used as a hostage so they can make demands to the US government? Unless you are a hypocrite you will do this.

I know you hate me, but only because if it weren't for us cro-magnons you'd actually be giving terrorists analingus instead of living in opulent splendour with all these technological fruits the US has given you and just talking about how much you want to over the web. However, if you weren't so fucked in the head maybe you would realise that you are better off like this and you should thank god people like me exist!

Yo FUCKTARDS, listen up, justice doesn't feed your ass, but western democracies, including the US do give you more shit to play with then say, rural China. So while you can bitch and moan about how gay US is you can be sure that if you are face with a choice to live in Pakistan and US, you will choose US. The Muslims do not offer shit to the world, and they are not justice in any way, shape or form. So i'll side with the US thank you very much. And if I offend any Muslim, tough, when you show to me that you can contribute to the world other than some roting microorganism from the ground, the arabic numbers, and a book of lies then I'll reconsider.

"War is an ugly thing, but not the ugliest of things. The decayed and degraded state of moral and patriotic feeling which thinks that nothing is worth war is much worse. The person who has nothing for which he is willing to fight, nothing which is more important than his own personal safety, is a miserable creature and has no chance of being free unless made and kept so by the exertions of better men than himself."

The point is is that funding Israel doesn't bring us shit, and it's not in our interest. There is simply no god damn reason we should keep giving them money. That money would be much better spent here at home, or given out in tax cuts. We have our own problems in the U.S., and we should focus on those rather than trying to unfuck the rest of the world.

The point is that Israel gets 1/3 of your foreign aid. Why do you only complain about Israel?
Name:
Anonymous2006-07-23 5:06
I don't. Foreign aid in general sucks. We should phase it out entirely, and not just to Israel. Foreign aid causes more harm than help, if it even helps at all.
On top of it all, we don't have any duty to the rest of the world to unfuck their shithole countries for them, or to raise them out of a poverty that they have created for themselves.

Why would any individual citizen want to just send money pointlessly off to some random country? The whole concept of foreign aid is stupid.
Are you people retarded? Jews hold the power in the USA, Jews hold the power in Israel, the reason one is supporting the other becomes obvious after you got those facts down.
the us is run by a bunch of bible toting fuckbags who believe that by protecting isreal, we are doing god's work and therefore will make it right into heaven without any problems.
the truth of the matter is that by causing problems and meddling with other people's bullshit, we have become the anti-christ.
What the fuck is so irrational about that? There are people who don't want to use their money to support Israel. You wanna pay? Then FINE! Pay out the ass. But no one should have any obligation to Israel whatsoever.

See, Jews are fucking whiners who will never get over the Holocaust until we get fed up with their complaining and shove them all into the ovens again. But *nobody likes Arabs*. Why the fuck are you complaining about Arabs getting shot?
And well, some people have a heart unlike other soul-less beasts who believe that when you bomb residential districts the civilian casualties are like mild side-effects of war.
Easy to say sitting in front of a TV in the comfort of your home. Anyways, I believe that people need to watch less CNN, bitch less, stop having grandeur ideas about how the government should be run to satisfy their empty lives, and concern themselves with the issues of their own daily lives.
You get to vote, and that's all you need to do to be a good citizen. You don't need to spend hours bitching endlessly about the injustices of government then spend 5 minutes in a voting booth to contribute your nearly worthless opinion amongst 100 million other worthless opinions and hope that the candidate that you support gets picked.

I know that many Arab immigrants here aren't really the people I want to share a country with. Jews, on the other hand, are just like me and we get along just fine.
That's why I vote for Arab killing. Because I hate those smelly fuckers.
