We are experiancing one of the largest ironies of them all. Our military is in Iraq, protecting the Iraqis, rather than here at home, securing our border.
Is that not what the military is for? Protecting this land, these borders? They should all be put on the southern border.

That is very misleading. According to the dictionary, a vigilante is: "One who takes or advocates the taking of law enforcement into one's own hands."
The minutemen do not actually arrest anyone. They do not take law enforcement into their own hands. They simply watch the border peacefully, and if they spot illegals crossing, they notify the appropriate people (such as the INS or whatever it is.)

I wasn't talking about securing the southern border I was talking about isolationism. It doesn't work and it just screws things up badly. And this isn't a different time, the only thing that's changed is now there are ICBMs and a half-hearted European peace driven by their need to compete with others.

Isolationism is not only what works, it's what's American. There are so many instances in writing showing very obviously that the Founding Fathers had an isolationist society in mind.
This is a different time. There isn't a huge Nazi military force that is consuming Europe nation by nation. The world was fine until we invaded Iraq.

How about just a "get in or get out" clause in imigration law. Meaning that when an imagrant comes over legally they have so many years to become a citizen of the US. If they don't they are shipped back out. Illegal immigrants of course are imediately shipped out. Make American English the national language. Nobody is a citizen without achiving a highschool equivilant eduation(force national standards as to what this means), and serve in the armed services for at least 2 years(Include such service as peace corp for those conticancius objectors). Make jobs for the physically challanged, and those mentally incapeable of doing all this don't get citizenship(most are incapeable of understanding the concept of citizenship anyways). I really don't give a damn what race you are, anyone that wants to be a citizen has to fill those requirements. Everyone has to fill the same ones, no exceptions.
