IS CHINA'S GOVERNMENT MEAN?

a lot of countries have their own problems with their governments, but damn, the chinese in particular seem to be pretty heavyhanded in their treatment of their citizens. is this just an exaggeration perpetuated by the media or are they really proper mean?

The treatment of it's citizens is mostly related to the fact that they are Communist.  In order to have a Communist society, you need to be violent and ruthless in order to keep society in line.  Read the BLack book of Communism.  Look at the history of the Soviet Union... it's very similar, if not horribly worse.

That movie examines a lot of the similar regimes as well, including the main ones, such as USSR and China.  It's awful stuff...and that movie is particularly graphic.
