There has been a growing number of people who believe that for turkey to join the EU that they should give back Hagia Sophia Back to the Orthodox church as a showing of turkeys willingness to compromise, a show of good will, and also cuz they stole it. The church was taken and converted into a mosque in the 1400's when the turks invaded constantinople. Now the church is officially a museum and is being allowed to fall into disrepair and decay despite the orthodox church offering to fund restoration projects. Do you think this is an acceptable condition for turkeys admission to the EU?

It will take atleast another decade before Turkey is let in the EU. But perhaps to speed it up?
Personaly, I dont see Turkey joining any time soon. Dont really consider it part of Europe geographically.

Turkey joining the EU is a disaster waiting to happen. Think the riots in France, just a lot bigger.
The EU already has enough problems trying to absorb former-Communist countries.

On a positive note; it would increase the hard needed increase in working people. Since Europe is rapidly aging. We need young people.
And since European council isn't really considering invluencing birth rates anytime soon. "this isn't China". It'll be a good option in the long run.. perhaps.

the day the EU accepts a muslim country is the day I move to canada or japan.

yeah well. it's not like not being in the eu is stopping emigration. Germany might as well rename itself to New Turkey.
and soon Europe will be Eurabia. What will you do when the mullahs come for you?

it's turkey's business what turkey does. why the fuck should anyone but other eu members and turkey care. i in america an i believe in minding my own fucking business. unlike most americans now unfortuanately.
population models suggest that muslims will be a majority in europe within 30-50 years, and 80-100 years in usa. then we'll have islamic laws and tenis players will be killed for wearing shorts, and parents will cut off their daughters noses if they feel that they dishonoured their family, etc.
and with bush cutting funding to NASA, there won't be anywhere to go to hide from them at all.

lol 10 years is far, far too early for turkey to join. it requires at least 30 years for the generation to change and adapt enough of the ideas required for EU. it's not like the only choice is to join it, either.
