If genetically engineering humans became accepted and practical there no limit to what could be accomplished.  Virtually all diseases could be cured, and birth defects like homosexuality and blackness could be gotten rid of as well.

I think homosexuality more than likely is a genetic trait.  Homosexuals tend to have very specific physical traits.  They seem normal enough to the average person, but when you take closer look most homosexuals have certain shared traits, such as facial structure.  It could just be a coincidence, but I think it's more than likely the two are related.
Additionally, homosexuality isn't really related to a person's upbringing.  There are plenty of gays out in the world who were raised just like everyone else.
