If there is a God, I really doubt he'd approve of people using his name/word to line their own pockets or gain political power.
If there is a Hell, I'm sure there's a pretty shitty part of it reserved for guys like Pat Robertson, Fred Phelps, and Jerry Falwell.

God is a creation. people invented religion to compensate for what they do not understand. many people are also too narrow-minded to realize that traditionalism is one of the worst ideas ever. they refuse to move forward, and therefore are stuck in the past, believing lies that fill the holes created by uncertainty. they need to accept that there is no god, that we are simply a mass of material that works in a certain way, and will eventually die. there is no afterlife, heaven or hell, or anything like it. religion is for people afraid to think for themselves.

The notion of god cannot be discounted with such sweeping generalisations.

Athiests always make their arguments against jews, and muslums, and ignorant christians. There is in christianity, more than just a stuipid creation story, and a heaven or hell scenerio. In fact christianity, is the only religion that (for its members mind you) accepts that people are bad, and that we can only do what we can. It also tells us that we should love our enemys, because they are like us lost and confused humans. Even back to genesis the truth of christianity rings strong, the story of adam and eve for example is nothing more or less than an allegory for our sentience, and our flawed existance.

Religion holds back the socialogical maturity of man. It is just one infantile belief that has yet to be disgarded in the overall psycological evoloution of mankind and humanity.

If everyone in the world became an athiest, we'd still have religion. But instead of a god to worship, it'd be another human. Sounds much worse if you ask me.

>>19 Atheism does not encourage illusory figureheads with almighty power. A great scientist might be venerated in a more knowledge-centric society, but they would never worship another human being. (In which case if they did, it would be with Superhuman qualities, and therefore we would be on the way back to infantile religion.)

>>19 Yup, The fact that some are born and bred on the notion that Worship is a must is criminal. Its Psycological indoctrination. Like what Hitler did to all the German youth. Religion is criminal when 'taught' at such an impressionable age.

Or like what the jews do to their kids to make them fanatically loyal to the nation of Israel and 'jewishness', generation after generation, even after the fricking place hadn't existed for 2000 years and the jews had long since stopped being 'hebrew' at all.

Jews are a whole other topic. The Fail deeply for being an Inbred, politic fueled monotheism of crap.
Those who fail less are Christianity, and Islam because of the latters fanaticism, which is arguably a good quality for a religion (Though shit to everyone else) and the former for having adapted and lost previous ideals.
Then less fail are Zoroastrianism, and Hinduism, because although Theistic, have valuable philsophy.
Then Buddhism and Esoteric science is made from Win because of no deity and more 'enlightened' thought, which the rest of society could learn from.

Religion is cruise control for...what?

It was prophesized since the beginning that in the end of time (this one) God would take other people as His rather than the Jewish people. Read the following: "...and I will say to them which were not my people, Thou art my people, and they shall say, Thou art my God" (Hos. 2:23/Rom. 9:25) and with remarkable forcefulness, God reveals through Isaiah: "I am sought of them that asked not for me; I am found of them that sought me not: I said, Behold me, behold me, unto a nation that was not called by my name". (Isa. 65:1) Reading and understanding this is easy to deduct that the Jewish people would be no longer the treasurer of God's new revelations. And that the Lord's manifestations in this era were not to be in Judea is very clear when the following verse is studied: "For as the lightning cometh out of the east, and shineth even unto the west, so shall also the coming of the Son of man be...". (Mtw. 24:27"
But, does this necessarily mean that Mexico, a little and underdeveloped country, is the chosen place for the Second Coming of the Lord? Let's see. When Jesus explains to His disciples where is the Advent to take place, he said to them: "For wheresoever the carcass is, there will the eagles be gathered together".(Mtw 24:28) The national symbol of Mexico has always been, even before the arrival of the Spaniards, an eagle devouring a serpent -itself, a very spiritual metaphor: the high devouring the low- and considering, besides, that in the Mexican Valley there is a great variety of this magnificent bird. And in the OT we find another prophetic verse in which the Lord warns the Jewish people that because of its defiance, He will chose another people, and in this prophecy appears, again, the symbol of the eagle: "The Lord shall bring a nation against thee from far, from the end of the earth as swift as the eagle fleth; a nation whose tongue thou shalt not understand." (Dut. 28:49).
"...a nation whose tongue thou shalt not understand". In this verse not only the Lord anticipates that in the time of the end He shall take another nation as His people, but also that that other people would speak a language totally unknown to the Jewish people. And not only that, in the following verse the use of another different language is clearly implied: "...for with stammering lips and another tongue will he speak to this people..." (Isa. 28:11)
Finally, it is proper to remember that in His past communications, the Lord has never chosen powerful nations to deliver His messages and teachings. On the contrary, He always pleased in chosing the humble and the poor to be the receivers of His divine inspirations. Jesus emphasizes this by saying: " I thank thee, O Father, Lord of heaven and earth, because thou hast hid these things from the wise and prudent, and hast revealed them unto babes"...

You didn't understand what I meant. At least now you can choose not to worship a god. But a corrupt ruler would probably force you to "worship" him and his gov't. Like taxes or the pledge of allegiance, but much worse. By the way, those two are just a small price to pay, don't think I have something against both.

I have read these chapters and noticed the quotes you used to suggest mexicans are the chosen people (Mtw. 24:27-28, Dut. 28:49, Isa. 28:11) have nothing to do with the chosen people and are talking about completely different things.
