The two aren't mutually exclusive. And it doesn't change the fact that Jews are disproportionately represented in the media in positions of "control" (ownership, management, or editorial).
It's been said that consciousness in the hyperreal age is a creation of the media. The media not only tells us what to think, it creates much of consciousness itself, picking and choosing what's relevant, and what questions and criticisms are, (pardon my Yiddish) kosher.
If the people in control of the major organs of mass media in society all happen to be from the same religio-ethnic background (disproportionate to their numbers in the general population), this fact should not be hidden. Yes, we should discuss how the media functions in a capitalist society. But that's not what the thread subject is about. The corporate media is a problem. The question being asked here is, why is most of said corporate media controlled by Jews? What are the implications? The same thing could be said as to why Jewish people are over represented in the banking industry.
As Jewish people they were outcasts from society and couldn't find jobs in the cities. So they acted as currency exchangers in main crossroads and made their riches there.
