why I love the West

it's because I couldn't exist in any other society. There is no way someone with my views, ideas and interests could develop outside of the western civilisation.

So, on one hand, I dispise a large segment of the west for being mindless, shallow, consumerist cunts (among other things), but at the same time I love it because it made me who I am and I depend on it. The few things that I like are products of the west, and all of the people I like are westerners at least by heart, if not geographical position.

It took me a long time to figure out why I would be willing to defend something that I, in general, don't really like, but this is why.

No. You can't. Only works if they are loyal to you and believe in your cause in the first place. Also, if you try to get them to do something against their beliefs or the cause you'll still have to use some sort of psychological, social, or physical threat to compel them to follow your directions. That is the beginning of tyranny. A flag is merely the symbol of an idea.
