So, I guess goth would be political now, as it's often described as a "lifestyle" and "sub-culture".
The term, coming from the name of the Barbarian tribes, was used to describe 'barbaric' style architecture by rennaissance folk, then it was used to describe 'barbaric' literature, ie/ about vampires, etc. In the 80's, the lead singer of Alien Sex Fiend got nicknamed Count Visigoth for his dress sense (eyeliner and kimonos, etc) and his band's followers were called goth. Tha name stuck.
Then it all went weird, and people fag out about "being goth just means you're being yourself" etc, and a bunch of gay shit.
Opinions on goth?
