Subliminal political messages in entertainmen

Come on, I know you've played, read or seen something and wondered if one of the people creating it had an ax to grind and it snuck into their work, intentional or unintentional. I had such an epiphany recently when I realized that the infamous introduction to "Zero Wing" is a metaphor for the final days of World War II.

Think about it. I think whoever did the translation had an axe to grind.

"SOMEBODY SET UP US THE BOMB" - Refers to the dropping of the Atomic Bomb on Hiroshima, obviously

"ALL YOUR BASE ARE BELONG TO US" a reference to the American occupation and military bases in Japan and Okinawa

"YOU HAVE NO CHANCE TO SURVIVE MAKE YOUR TIME" - some might attribute this to the preponderance of military strength possessed by the United States, but I think it also refers to the Soviet Union's declaration of war immedietly following the first bomb, and the juggernaut of combined forces that conspired to crush Japan ultimately if she did not surrender.

"TAKE OFF EVERY ZIG" - the final, futile efforts of the Japanese air forces to stop the B-29 raids roaming with impunity over the mainland.

"MOVE ZIG, FOR GREAT JUSTICE" - "Zig" sounds suspciously like Sieg, which we all know from Hitler and Gundam means Victory in German. In that context, this equates roughly to a defiant yell of "Banzai!" in a final, desperate victory-or-death (but likely death) scenario.

That's it for me. How about you?

You can make that comparison to any modern military conflict. But what makes these current set of wars so silly is that it's for control of natural resources and personal gain. The "Ideas and Reasons" for fighting have become the distraction to an ever increasing march towards armmeggedon.

So the Japanese have been promoting a homosexual lifestyle and denouncing Americanism through their cartoons and software for years, just like Bobby Fischer said that they would!

My mind is blown.

Don't change these.
