Lifetime Imprisonment

Name: Anonymous 2006-01-21 2:41

Somehow I find such a sentence light nowadays especially in countries where the prison are so much better equipped than a poor house.

If people have such a hard time with the death penalty, why not go for instead maybe a lifetime hard labour in prison? Breaking rocks etc....

Or lifetime torture....whipped everyday or lifetime isolation.

Just that lifetime imprisonment seems just an easy way. Not to say its not a sweet deal. But I mean all that the prisoner would do is wake up, eat, recreational activities then sleep. Given that the prisoner has to also try to avoid the gang ass-rapes but thats not in the "offical" sentencing.

Have you ever been to prison?

You really can't open your fucking mouth about such a thing if you haven't actually experienced it. (eg: POW John McCain versus 20 oz. Georgie Bush)

If you think a prison sentence has anything at all to do with treatment and physical suffering you are almost entirely misunderstanding its purpose.

Name: Anonymous 2006-01-21 5:30

What is it's purpose?

Name: Anonymous 2006-01-21 7:14

To deny access to society and hopefully rehabilitation in the process.

rehabilitation???? From life time in prison???

Name: Anonymous 2006-01-21 9:43

I think life time prisoners should be forced to help non-felons rehabilitate. The punishment shouldn't be elaborate, it should be justified, rapists already are forced unofficially to provide their rectums for inmates to relieve themselves inside if they wish so that non-felons who just get in don't suck cock for heroine and other problems in prison.

I'm not an expert though, I wouldn't have thoguht of that and I would be uncertain to it's benefits. Obviously the prison officers are doing a good job and should be permitted to make such decisions without risk of punishment from such arcane restrictions. The prison system needs to progress.

There is such a thing called parole.

Name: Anonymous 2006-01-21 9:53

>>7
I think more common is rapists utilising the rectums of the petty thief or the marijuana user.

Sometimes that happens and prison officers turn a blind eye, but usually they come into contact with the rapists get disgusted and team up to encourage other inmates, people who were dealt a low card or who made a few mistakes but are not completely fucked in the head, to turn the tables.

Criminals usually aren't intellecutal characters like hannibal Lector who know something the rest of society doesn't, they are the people you describe when you insult someone. They truly are the prats and twats of society, pathetic individuals who deserve to have their assholes reemed for the rest of their natural life.

Whatever happened to forced exile?  If someone won't live by the laws of the land, just kick them out and let some other country deal with them.  Or just throw them into the bush and not let them back into the cities.  Much cheaper than tax-supported prisons, generally much less cushy, yet still guarantees the basic rights of freedom and life if they're willing to actually work for them.

This is, of course, assuming the crime doesn't justify capital and/or corporal punishments, or the populace at large is too wussy to enforce thus.

Well once the science behind suspended animation has been perfected and into an everyday reality, we can just put a prisoner on a lifetime sentence into that state.

Then prisons can pack even more prisoners sicne the space u will need it just enough to fit one human lying down (Think Minority Report prison)

I think it's funny/weird that the government basically owns you if you commit a crime. The government can decide what to do with you. You have no choice to leave or quit the government.

The contract you made with the government, ie. to lose a few freedoms to gain security, cannot be revoked anymore and you are stuck with the government forever.

Go pose as an ATF agent in Kentucky and come back to me on that.

the government basically owns you regardless of if you commit a crime or not.  they can just keep adding new crimes until you're on the list.

I think people who commit non-violent crimes should be given the option of exile (to some country which will accept them) and working to repay their debt (at which point they're free to come back if they wish).

Those who commit violent crimes like murder or rape should just be killed. We could spend the extra billions on education and it would also be an awesome deterrent.

I think those who commit worse crimes should be given the option of exile too. Somewhere like Australia lol

Because you violated the terms of that contract. Since when do people get to withdraw from contracts after breaking them?

>>15
Your profound arguments have convinced me. I'm going to move to a cabin in the woods and plot to overthrow the government.

Australia isn't big enough.

So everyone who rapes 10 children gets exiled to France or is allowed to "terminate their contract with the government" and allowed to walk free?

I've got a better idea, prevent and deter all crime. Build walls around villages and towns and declare them gun free observation zones. If for some reason you don't want to spend 5 seconds getting an ID card swiped and be observed in public by security cameras aswell as strangers, go live in the countryside.

Also people should be punished for committing crimes in a manner which repays their debt to society. White collar criminals have all their wealth taken from them, their mansions ran through by the bailiffs and sold etc etc.. Felons who cannot undo the psychological and physical damage they cause will be tortured to serve as a deterant.

If you disagree and want to commit these crimes without punishment you are encouraged to "terminate your contract with the government", just so long as you don't commit a crime before you leave the country.

A suitable punishment for someone who rapes 10 children would be impalement. After a court case it will be decided whether the evidence is completely without doubt. If there is a slim chance that the person did not rape 10 children, then he will spend his life in jail doing hard labour until proven otherwise. If not, blunt smooth spikes will be slid through the person's anus and out the right shoulder with the wounds sealed, the rapist would then be left to die in public to aid in the deterance effect. This of course assuming someone is physically capable and stupid enough to rape children once the preventative measures and deterants are in place.

Leave an interesting possibiltiy regarding those in the countryside.  What about the poor shlubs born on the outside? are they allowed into the utopian cities?

They would get about the same protection as people do nowadays, except with the added benefit of a deterant. Punishment for non-felony wouldn't be as extreme and may include education opportunities as they work off their debt to society. Only irreplacable serious damage to other people would result in torture.

Name: Anonymous 2006-01-25 20:31

Oh and they have to work off their debt to society in prison, you can't simply give back what you stole or literally pay off your debt.

Name: Anonymous 2006-01-26 11:49

I am glad that things are the way they are. Some of you are truly scary.

Name: John 2006-01-26 12:07

Here's my take...

If you kill somebody in a manner that would get you an execution or life sentence, then you die the same way your victim(s) died. If you raped them first, you get raped. If you hack off their limbs with a chainsaw, you get your limbs hacked off with a chainsaw. Make a special court just for cases where execution is a possibility. (It's in the president's power to do so, by the way.) The wait to be executed will be shortened to a matter of a couple of months, rather than years. That'll reduce the murder rate, won't it... Who wants to apply for the job of executioner? :D

And don't give me this "anyone who wants to exact physical violence as a matter of revenge is EVIL" crap. The bastards that do this stuff deserve it and you know it. Whether you want to admit it or not, there ARE people out there that simply have no empathy for other human beings. Take this "rap culture" we have here in the US for example. These couple of "gangsta rap" kids got convicted for attempted murder for taking a video camera, going out and beating just some random guy almost to death, and video taping it.

Exactly! Ive had it with hearing ppl say how we should treat convicted criminals humanely etc. (And I mean the serious ones)

Everybody wants to be like the good samaritan. So when there is a crime so terrible, what is the most comfortable thing to society that it can do punish the criminal? Life Imprisonment. Oooh and plus parole makes the punishment heavier.

This is freaking why you have bulging prions. The criminals that don't deserve to live like serial killers, cocaine kings should get what they REALLY deserve.

So if you steal $50 and you get caught all you have to do is give it back and you're ok? An eye for an eye? Right?

Wrong. You rape someone, you get publicly impaled. You steal $50 and you spend 1 year doing hard labour. That's a deterant. That way no one thinks seriously of commiting a felony and that way anyone who commits a crime is actually rehabilitated. Then we have actual justice, not a justice where politicians can be corrupt and only have to suffer 0.5% of their annual income if they ever get caught and where destyroying other people's lives is a fashionable way to get into prison and being in prison is an enjoyable fashionable experience.

Don't change these.
