Sino-Japanese relationship

Last April anti-Japanese sentiment in China displayed massive demonstration in several cities.

Japanese and Chinese should make peace. If it means making apologies or losing face, so be it. National pride is immaterial. The gaijin/gwailo Americans are at the gates, trying to divide and conquer.

Japan has had three traditional ways of contacting with China.

#1: Obeying "Imperial Tributary System",which defines China is the central heart of the region. And pay respect as if China is the Japan`s father as a matter of form. (4C-607, 14C)

#2: Agression to the continent. This tends to be appeared when Japan succeeded in unifying its disorganized inland and established a centralized administration. Both of the cases, Japan waste its power and resource, lost all of its interests on the continent and withdraw its troops at last.(663,1592-1598,1894-1945)

#3: Distance itself from continent and profit from trading. And these every period Japan has enjoyed its prosperity and peace.(607-13C,1618-1858,1945-now)

Japanese now feel that there`s no question of themselves taking #1or#2 solution any more.

Japan is more or less America's bitch for losing the war. America doesn't like Communists, and China's a Communist country. Because of this, many of the Japanese war criminals were never convicted. As a result, you get Japanese worshipping rapists who got a hero's grave. Many Japanese still believe no human rights violations occured during their occupation and conquest of Asia; this statement is on par with saying Hitler's Nazis didn't kill any Jews.

China views Japan's denial of war crimes as an insult, and Japan is angry over their heroes being defamed. This issue will probably never be resolved since it also benefits both sides; in Japan it's favored since the whole issue brings up national identity; in China it's favored since it gives the people something to be mad about and therefore lowers any chances of rebellion against the state.
