One should fetishize the concept of nonviolent justice over and above the concept of violent revenge, for two reasons: violence is passe, and nonviolence is supremely frustrating to those who would have it otherwise.  Meanwhile, the rapists rot away bored in their cells, and we can bask in our own richly deserved smug sense of moral superiority.
