How to get rid of Christianity?

I don't think there are very many people who would disagree with me, that Christianity is one of the stupidest things that people still believe in the modern era.  It has lead to many problems, a lot of political hoopla, and possibly even a war in the middle east. 

So, how can we get rid of it?  Do you think that there's a possibility it's already dying out?  Would that be a good thing if it did?

you're an idiot, there is a ton of stuff we wouldn't have if it weren't for christianity.

Calculus, for example, probably wouldn't exist. Christianity covers such a broad range of ideas and people, of course there's a lot of stupid concepts and idiots in there but there's a lot of good shit too. It's only until fairly recently (19th century) that all the great philosophers and scientists started dissassociating themselves with the religion... and even then, many modern scientists still are deists or spiritualists of some form or another.

How can you believe that these scholarly advancements could only have occured under christianity?  I'll give you that people became obsessed with it, and that drove them forward.  There are a lot of things out there that could obsess people, and human behavior is naturally adjusted towards probing and discovery. Having said that, while Christianity gave rise to what is now the university system, it did a lot to hold us back. Net result: none.

I think all religion in general is a mental disease and should go away. think about it- muslims - their prophet muhammad, said he saw a vision after sitting in a cave for 9 months w/out food and water, what was it hulucinations from dehidration? Bad mushrooms? who knows, but what he did has managed to create untold termoil and death. And cristians wtf adam and eve? that not even possible, two people can not breed a population it's called inbreeding (think charles the II) - same problem with noahs arch. and if gods so forgiving and loves everybody, and he has the power to make everything better in he little toe nail why dosent he? Plus they were a huge factor in one of the worst periods in human history- the dark ages (for you information, people tore up roman roads because they were made so well, people thought they were made by witches. And the crap they caused. The spanish inquisition, the crusaded, Salem. Also one of adam and eves kids married someone not their brother/sister/parent. Where did they come form? who knows? and if they didnt, i think banging you sibilings is against the bible. I think religions had good intentions with fake anacdotes that ppl took way to serously and over time began to beleive. (the best eaxmple is confucinasim, which isn't a "religion" just a good meaning set of beleifs (for those times) that hasnt been warped). And all these cristian ethecis zomg stemcells. Well, we could lock religious fundamentalists in rooms with books by Nietzsche and only let them out when they've read them all. Of course, you probably don't want to be next to a pissed off prisoner who just read hundreds of pages praising unrestrained power, but at least we would no longer have to worry about the fundamentalists. Why get rid of it?  I'm not Christian however I see how it helps others in their daily lives; it's assuring to have the faith in something.  Sure it annoys me when someone tries to "preach" to me about how I should be a believer but they can't change my mind and that's all that matters to me.  I do think that the Christian population is "shrinking" and will eventually lose its popularity as the current and future generations evolve.  I wish I could live on to see it happen. ;)
