MP Galloway says

Name: Anonymous 2005-05-22 21:20

Senator, this is the mother of all smokescreens. You are trying to divert attention from the crimes that you supported, from the theft of billions of dollars of Iraq's wealth. Have a look at a real oil for food scandal. Have a look at the 14 months you were in charge of Baghdad, first 14 months, when 8.8 billion dollars of Iraq's wealth went missing - on your watch. Have a look at Halliburton and other american corporations that stole not only Iraq's money, but money of the american taxpayer. Have a look at the oil that you didn't even meter that you were shipping out of the country and selling, the proceeds of which went who knows where. Have a look at the 800 million dollars that you gave to the military commanders, the handout around the country, without even counting it, or weighing it. Have a look at the real scandal breaking in the newspapers today, revealed in the ?? testimony in this committee - that the biggest sanctions busters were not me, or Russian politicians, or French politicians - the real sanctions busters were your own companies with the connivance of your own government.

Lord almighty,  I laffed my ass off listening to him rip those two senators and my entire government new goatse sized assholes.  It was quickly apparent that they had no fuckin' clue about who they'd "invited" to testify.  With a polished, measured cadence, and a baritone Scottish brouge (sic) dripping pure venom--it is a thing of beauty.
Don't believe me?  Judge for yourselves:

Warning for dial-up users:  Weighs in at around 8MB, but well worth the wait.

Also worth a listen is Bill Moyers speech at the media reform conference last Sunday.

This is fucking awesome.  I would like some more context.  His full name, where and why he's making this speech, etc.

1.  George Galloway MP testifing in front of a US Senate Sub-committe investigating the "Oil for Food Program".

2.  Bill Moyers is a journalist who's worked for CBS and PBS for Thirty years.  He also worked in the Johnson White House.

I have been reading about this guy on Wikipedia, and dogmatically left and dogmatically right websites, trying to see where the truth falls out.  A very forceful speech nonetheless.  If nothing else, it's a very interesting example of how politics are done different in Britain.

That's because in Britain debate on issues still exists.  Here--it's all sound bytes, spin--and talking heads shouting at each other.  Good for ratings--fatal for freedom.

I've yet to determine if it's the form of goverment or simply the culture that allows for such a differnt take on politics. Take the town forums for example. Yes, yes, Bush filter his attendants with a strainer, but in all fairness I have to admit the Kerry probably did the same, or at the very least roped off his ditractors. But Tony Blair sat in a hot seat and was brutally raped by angry citizens wanting answers. I really wish we'd of brought that sentiment along on the boats...

As an attendee at one of Kerry's well, the folks with ballons filled with pig blood--they did not get in but the "protesters" right outside were given EVERY chance to scream at him by the Secret Service from about 10ft.  Bush's detractors get a fenced-in parking lot 1/2Mi away--and not on the parade route.  Did I mention the folks on the roofs of the surrounding buildings taking photos?

God I miss Nixon.  At least he only dreamed of being Emporer.  Bush has been convinced he is.

America needs a constitutinal ammendment reqiring the president to submit to "Questions" like Tony has to do.  It will never happen.

That I agree. Only reason he got elected as an MP was because he took advatange of the majority muslim voter's hatred there.
