As I have said in other places, if you're planning to use this knowledge, so common that it need not be stated, as a rationale either not to vote or to cease paying attention to American politics, the fact of the matter will remain that you ought to do both. Democrats and Republicans (in Congress, now) both take money from lobbyists, both cheat on their wives and both are, for the most part, unattractive white men. Fine. However, contrary to the nihilistic conclusion, they are not identical. This is proven by the fact that they vote differently, whether for honest reasons, or because they are influenced by different lobbyists. and you have a logical imperative to vote for the guy that you think will fuck up the least, because even though they share ignoble characteristics, their decisions affect your reality differently, and for whatever reason. (now I'm going to assume something-I don't actually know you, but just go with it for the narrative, no offense.) Just because you can't be bothered to research the quieter aspects of the results of government doesn't mean that they don't affect you.
Further, there is this lazy notion, among precisely the same class of people who are lazy enough to excuse themselves from voting with their sophism, that political activity ends at the ballot box; it doesn't. The far-left hippie green movement, the independent movement, and to a lesser extent the nutjob reform party, all continue to cut into the establishment. Am I saying that you have to align with one of these or take to the streets or some shit? No, all I'm saying is that you should maintain a basic knowledge of political goings-on. Even if there's no way for these third party candidates to win a particular election and you perhaps really don't want a particular other candidate to get in (the Nader factor), you should still vote, even if it's a wishy-washy hedge-your-bets sort of affair, again, precisely because you feel that one guy will fuck up less than another guy.
I maintained throughout the '04 election, to my friends, that it was worse for a person not to vote at all than if they voted for Bush. In the previous off-year election of '02, my old Ukranian chem lab professor asked me 'What if you encourage someone to vote and the vote the other way?' It was all I could do to stifle the retort 'Because this ain't communism, woman!' Look at it this way: no matter which way you vote, you'll have the glee of cancelling out some old person's vote.

Republicans are greedy fat asses, Democrats are sniveling jackasses.
I'd rather have a Democrat in the White House any day.

Republicans support school choice, so every child gets a quality education. Democrats oppose this sensible reform because they are ideologically supportive of big-government, and because their pockets are filled with campaign contributions from Unions who don't want to have their members have to compete for jobs like everyone else in a real marketplace.
Democrats support gun control & gun bans, while republicans oppose them.
Democrats oppose concealed carry and other pro-2nd Amendment laws that save lives and expand our liberties, while republicans support them.
Democrats support the nomination of judges that will legislate from the bench rather than strictly interpreting the constitution, which undermines our entire republican system of government.

Republicans support religious based education which deprives the mind from learning anything. Republicans support government so small you can drown it in a bathtub, and thus, support a corporate dictatorship where Union workers and workers in general have no rights.
Republicans support one's right to own a weapon in a society in which none are needed.
Republicans support laws that give guns to criminals and thus expand the crime rate, then ask why crime has increased. Republicans also deny Americans their liberties with acts like the PATRIOT Act and other Fascist schemes.
Republicans support the nomination of judges that will destroy the Constitution with their flawed, Christian zealotry interpretation of the Constitution.

"Republicans support one's right to own a weapon in a society in which none are needed."
Well I think you need to kill yourself, but I'm not going to force you to kill yourself because of your right to life.

Right to life? You Republifags only care about Fetuses, not human life. That would be why you support everything that contradicts giving another person a helping hand in life, such as Social Security, Minimum Wage, etc.

lol @ libfags that talk about republicans destroying the constitution while, in the same post, they whine about:
"Republicans support one's right to own a weapon in a society in which none are needed."

The Second Amendment only supports the Right to Bear arms as a part of a militia. It never says anything about owning them outside of said militia.

The Second Amendment, along with the other nine amendments known as the Bill of Rights, specifically designate these freedoms as belonging to "we the people" and forbids the federal government from enacting laws to the contrary.
Any change to these rights REQUIRES a constitutional amendment and ratification by the various states. In other words, cocksucker, if you feel this is necessary, put it to a vote!

Apparently 2/3 Federal judges think differently. See Parker vs. D.C., libfag.
>>11 That's not what the Second Amendment says, and you well fucking know it, libfag. You have the right to keep and bear arms, and you may form militias if necessary. BUT YOU CAN'T FORM A MILITIA IF THE RIGHT IS TAKEN FROM YOU IN THE FIRST PLACE.
Similarly, when you're sitting there quiet and alone, you don't magically lose the right of freedom of speech. You don't lose your freedom of speech, or of the press, or of assembly, depending on some farcical membership in a group devoted to that end. YOU SIMPLY HAVE THOSE RIGHTS AND CAN USE THEM AS YOU SEE FIT!
You libfags can never admit all that, can you? Fucking libfags. You all think you're so fucking well educated, but you're as bad about being indoctrinated as any fucking conservafag. You surround yourselves with people who think the same stupid shit and call it some sort of fucking mandate. FUCK YOU!

Pay attention to the last generation's worth of so-called legal sentiment. The libfags came THIS --> || <-- CLOSE to enacting gun confiscation during the Terrible Liberal 1990s. Was I trolled? HARDLY. The libfags are going to try gun confiscation and they won't settle for anything LESS.
