Sony back in profit after years, helped by weak yen
A WEAK yen has helped Japan's Sony Corp to record a 43 billion yen profit after four straight years of losses, the electronics and entertainment company reported yesterday.
It is a reversal from a 457 billion yen loss last year - the worst in the company's nearly seven decades history.
A weak yen helps Japanese exporters, and the dollar has gained 20 per cent against the yen in recent months. The favourable exchange rate is expected to continue in the coming months because of the policies of Prime minister Shino Abe, who took office last year. - AP.
