caste system in collectivist societies

So i've been thinking about the benefits of a caste system in a collectivist society.
As in, every person that excels at a particular occupation can only marry and reproduce with another that does the same.
I think one good example (the only example i have actually considered) might be India. I have read that it is speculated that most people in India have an IQ of about 90, which is fairly low compared to northern europeans and east asians. This is because the largest caste, the laborers, have a mean IQ of about 90. However, the brahmins, a separate caste, who have historically been the rulers, landowners, politicians, engineers, professionals, etc. in india have a mean IQ of about 118, which is higher than most any largely exclusively interbreeding population on earth.
So this got me thinking. Perhaps a society with an organized caste system can, given enough time and generations of selective breeding, increase productivity and maximize proficiency of the laborers/innovators/soldiers/rulers/etc at their jobs. Ultimately resulting in a highly intellectual class of rulers and innovators, and a lower class of those that specialize best at being commanded and doing the labor.

the laborers, untouchables etc., in India often live in relatively substandard conditions, with a significant percentage of their children suffering from malnutrition and unequal education opportunities.
The selective breeding may have nothing to do with IQ. It is likely insufficient infrastructure as the main barrier healthy cognitive development in India the case of those who can barely afford food for their children or school supplies or study time or medical/psychological care.
You can clearly see that most indian children born in highly developed societies have iqs perhaps even entire standard deviations above what their people might have had in india.

Bump as an example of how a little bit of knowledge can be made into something ugly.  That's assuming any of those shitistics are even accurate.

the caste system is one of the most reprehensible things india has ever come up with. The amount of abuse that occurs when you designate someone as subpar is enormous. It is absolutely disgraceful and should never be practiced. People should be allowed to at least try and succeed in what they CHOOSE to do with their lives. We are not insects, we have a choice in life.

It would also lead to a larger population because of larger lower classes that have no potential to rise up. To them, a bigger family leads to larger income. Makes me wish they would leave their unwanted culture in India before they emigrate to Canada.

The truth is in India the cast system is a result of racist policy of indoeuropean people who conquered the subcontinent and decided they don't want to mix with their slaves. With time however there where mixed people but they where not allowed to mix with master neither wanted to mix with slaves-peasants and so on and so on until today. India is in shit. It will never rise of poverty because there is no system of gratification for industrious people, instead what decided about the future is whose son you are. I don't like them anyway, but at least they are not muslims.
The same happened some in 18th and 19th century on some islands of Carribean where whites created highest class, blacks the lowest, and everything between depending on their whiteness.
