TOTTORI -- A police officer faces charges for exposing his private parts to three women in their 70s here between March and this month, police said.

Tottori Prefectural Police have sent an investigation report to prosecutors accusing the 53-year-old assistant inspector at Sakaiminato Police Station of indecent exposure.

He told investigators that he targeted women in their 70s.

"I didn't think elderly women would report such incidents to police," he was quoted as telling investigators. "I was stressed over problems involving my family and work."

The assistant inspector, whose name was not immediately disclosed, resigned from the force on Friday after being slapped with a salary cut on disciplinary grounds.

The assistant police inspector exposed his genitals to three women in their 70s on streets in Tottori on separate occasions between March this year and earlier this month, investigators said. His crime came to light after one of the victims reported the license plate number of the officer's car to local police. (Mainichi)
