We are currently in the aftermath of the war not the actual war. the aftermath is something that is much more sensitive than the war itself. if the aftermath of WWI had been delt with well WWII probably wouldn't have happened. if the aftermath of WWII had been delt with better the cold war might not have happened.

I was refering to iraq in specific. however, we are in the war on terror, and it is the aftermath of the cold war true. the problem is that we are in a cold point in the war on terror in which we aren't really activly trying to gain ground, nor are we defensivly holding our position from attack, it's just kind of a cold point where we aren't really sure which direction we are going to go. there are several valid directions, but we risk alienating allies with them and we havn't quite grown the balls to just say "fuck you" and take care of what needs taken care of.

What war are they winning? I am aware of no such wars
Except for the War on Oil

We rarely see imediate profit from any military action. while we did in WWII that was because we weren't involved in it, after that it took many years for us to see a economic return on the investment. It took us almost 5 years to see the full profit we got from the persian gulf. likewise there is no profit for us now in iraq, it is the future that will determine how much profit we will find there.
