SAITAMA — The Saitama District Court sentenced a 57-year-old man to 20 years in prison Friday for killing his wife and two children at their home in Saitama last year.
Yoshitoshi Morodome, a former trailer truck driver, was convicted of fatally beating his 52-year-old wife, their 28-year-old son and 20-year-old daughter with a dumbbell on Jan 11, 2005. Judge Tetsuya Okuda handed down a lighter sentence than the 30 years demanded by public prosecutors saying the defendant suffered serious depression and had diminished competence after losing his job.
