HUGE echizen jellyfish, which can weigh up to 200kg and have an umbrella measuring 2m across, have been causing serious damage to the fishing industry off Japan's east coast.
Thousands of the jellyfish have damaged fixed fishing nets while also degrading the freshness of fish by flicking them with their poisonous tentacles.
The population of the jellyfish, the largest variety found in the Japan Sea, has skyrocketed recently

Will Japan combat this menace with an army of robots piloted by angsty 15-year-old kids?
I actually heard about this story a while ago. Or at least a story warning that this might happen.
The reason for it is this:
Whenever a Japanese fishing boat would encounter a large congregation of Jellyfish in the water, the people on board would do all they could to kill all the jellyfish, hoping that it would sort the problem out. Unfortunately, the Jellyfish have evolved a cunning survival tactic, which basically means that whenver one is killed, (violently or otherwise I'm not sure) it secrets a chemical hormone which drives all other jellyfish in the area to go into a breeding frenzy. Thus more jellyfish, and since Japan hasnt changed its tactics, this will keep happening.
god damn I'm sad...

The jellyfish have declared war. Shit just got real. It's time we destroyed them all. No mercy.
