Anyway, America has made some advandces for the internet but the American government is trying to get more control so they know everything that is going on. The American Government is try to make this into a orwellian society. By controlling the root servers of the internet and also ICANN which has taken over IANA (Internet Assignes Numbers Authority) the US Government has a strong hold over the internet. Also, American companies are helping other goverments do this as well. See Microsoft and China..

| See Microsoft and China..
The Chinese Government has developed their own Linux distro, Red Flag Linux, which they distribute to the people. Of course the Chinese hate the government and distrust anything government related, so upon receiving a computer with Red Flag installed they promptly strip it off and replace it with pirate Windows. Dumb Chinks.

I used that to show that Microsoft is trying to expand their hold over the operating system market. Also, microsoft help the chinese government develope and system that will not let information that the government dosen't want their people to see to get in. And with any system there is a fault which the Chinese, as intelligent people and not "chinks", could figure out. WRYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY!

Eventually they'll get the chinks out of the system
Well, the open nature of the internet will allow member countries who don't like it to join their own DNS system. It's not hard to imagine europe for example getting together and making their ISPs join in so that all europeans can reach sites run under their TLDs.

Will the IP addresses still work?

>>16 IP addresses always work, as long as the places that are responsable for routing are willing to rout them. If they aren't, It's not inconceivable for a certain marginalized group of countries to just set up their entire group behind a NAT and have access to their interweb separately. I could see japan doing that, easily.
The internet is not some single place that anyone has a grip on the balls on. It's possible to get close to being able to do that, but you can always splinter off.
