Less speculative now. Personally, I don't see how raising the prices on foreign cars is going to help US autos sales. If anything it pad Toyota's pockets a bit more.

Simple economics: People tend to buy cheaper cars. If you raise prices for your car, people start searching for alternatives.
The car price is significant factor in purchases(which happens rarely), so that Toyota's cars will be bought less.
They hope the price increase compensates it, but i doubt it.
