Powerful Earthquake Strikes Iran

TEHRAN (Reuters) - A strong earthquake hit southeast Iran on Tuesday, killing almost 400 people, injuring hundreds and destroying some villages, a local official told Reuters.

The early morning quake, which measured 6.4 on the Richter scale, also injured more than 1,000 people and was centered on the town of Zarand in Kerman province, about 440 miles southeast of Tehran.

The tremor came just over a year after a devastating earthquake in Bam, about 160 miles southeast of Zarand, in which some 31,000 people were killed in December, 2003.

lrn2history. its called the colonial period. when Britain showed up to Africa and started shipping people off to become slaves. i dunno, but imo that would of had some sort of effect on the regions growth, don't ya think? look at all the poor and undeveloped terrorist fuck hole countries, they have all been a colony and had their resources stolen and people raped by some super power of the time.
