Best bass setup for 1-1/2 tuning

Name: Anonymous 2011-05-19 21:43

I've joined a new band, but they tune their guitars down a full step and a half. So now my bass is the same (Db, Gb, B, E), but the strings are just slack as fuck.

In their own words they want the bass "punchier", to "ring out more".

I've gone back to a standard gauge, but even these are a slack. (Not as bad as the lights I had on before, but bad enough that it annoys me). I've messed around with the bridge and pickup heights too.

I'm not expecting mircles or anything, but was wondering if you had any tips. Different gauge of strings? Asjusting the bridge/pickup heights more? Changing the neck a bit? Anything really.

Amp wise I think I've managed to squeeze out the best sound I can, but the slackness effects my actual playing.

Is it just that I'm not used to playing this far tuned down? and eventually I'll "get used to it"?

If so, I don't think I want to get used to it... feels horrible.

Anyway, thanks,

Third post, are you retarded? Why the fuck did you mess with the pickups. That will do nothing with the slackness of your strings. Stop messing with shit and take it to a tech since you obviously have no idea what in the dikcs you are doing
