Sure, it's "fun" when you're 16 and have nothing else to do than to find the most obscure band like "Nirvana" and listen to it to pretend you're "cool" in front of your friends, but why do some "adults" still listen to music? Why do so many 20 year olds still act like children, wearing jeans, playing video games and listening to music? Atleast jeans+tshirts have some benefits over proper clothes, and video games are somewhat interactive. But what is the point of sitting on a chair and listening to some black man singing about prostitutes and drugs?

Because it feels good? That feeling is temporary, so you listen to music often to renew that feeling.

Do teenagers spend hours in their room staring at the Mona Lisa and Michelangelo's David? I would hope not.

If it has no purpose other than itself, it's art. I can't remember who said that but it pretty much sums it up.

I've met someone like the OP who didn't like music at all. I just couldn't understand it. Music makes me feel happy, sad, anything. I can't imagine life without it.
>the most obscure band like "Nirvana"
Okay, I laughed a little.
Really though, it makes you happy and it's interesting. You can't get better than that.
