Anyone reading this, here's some suggestions for some good death and black metal.
Black: Mayhem, Darkthrone, Satanic Warmaster (though I don't support the political views, it's pretty awesome), Bathory, Venom, Celtic Frost.
Death: Goatwhore (though they are "Blackened Death Metal"), Nile, Grotesque, At The Gates, Obituary, Six Feet Under (I think they suck, but I oddly like them), and of course Cannibal Corpse.

As soon as you get exposure, you get posers. Some of the posers might eventually get into it (if you're in a "scene" before understanding it, you're posing... but that posing might help you get further into the scene), but a lot won't... it's the same problem with any other large band or scene really.
