Hey /b/, we are just about done writing a new song and need some suggestions and feedback before we go into processing / mixing.

Note, this track will be the last on an EP, hence the extended outro.

(Instruments: Korg Electribe, Yamaha Silent Cello, Laptop, Ableton Live, Two Electric Guitars, Trace Elliot Combo Bass, Korg MicroKontrol, Propellerheads Reason, Guitar Rig, Samson Q7, Behringer B2 :| ).

Well, disregarding the fact that this isn't /b/, I gave it a listen anyway. I kind of expected it to progress more throughout the whole thing. It's interesting, but I'm not a fan of the singing. I can't think of much to change as far as processing/mixing though. If it's possible to change the drum track, I'd add more cymbal stuff here and there. That'd open the song up a lot more.

Thanks :D. I'll definitely mess with the drum track a bit, it's currently more of a general arrangement (lots of loops) and all the subtleties aren't in there yet, so I can totally see how it is quite a bit monotonous after a while.

On your recommendation I'm going to work making the track slightly shorter, and add a bit of a sparser break during the middle eight, then introduce the more complex guitar and bass lines after that.

Which singing were you not a fan of? There are three singers, Matt (backing male), Koiya (female), Me (lead). I'm going to assume that you're talking about mine :P, and I agree, I'm going to have to do that again.

Thanks again :D

It just sounded like most of the singers were kind of stoned. With a second listen, though, I think it's fine. With headphones on, it seems like the levels are a little off - the bass is way up, and the vocals aren't in front. The subtle background effects could get turned up too (at least in some places for accent). It seems comparable in many ways to Nine Inch Nails - always a plus, 'cause let's face it - everyone loves NIN. More than anything, I think you did a good job capturing the mood with it. The singing falls under that category - it contributes to the overall mood. Telharmonics, eh? Where are you based?

Frankly I like how the bass kind of rides above the whole mix and I think the vocals are just right for whats going on too. I listen to alot of shoegaze like My Bloody Valentine and Slowdive, etc. so everything here is appealing to me. honestly, good job.

It would be nice to hear some of that droning guitar though, its to drowned out in the mix, throw some reverb and some fuzz on that shit for added greatness. Also, for the percussion, the kick and the snare should be louder and more expressed I think.

Don't change these.
