check our nels cline, particularly his collabo with wally shoup called 'immolation / immersion' also check out the album 'conference of the birds,' by dave holland quartet. check out sun ra (duh), perhaps miles davis electric era e.g. 'live evil' and 'bitches brew.'
that should be enough music to tide you over for a while :)
and as for sigur ros, i'm a fan just because their music is so emotional, if i'm feeling down i listen to takk... because the songs are very uplifting.
