Emotional music that's not emo?

I love music that can have strong emotional meaning behind the lyrics, or with the lead singer actually showing emotion, rather than the senseless screaming to the backdrop of shitty music. I'm not talking about emo music....that's just basically "WAHHH I'M GETTING RICH OFF OF SAYING MY LIFE SUCKS WAAHHHH BAWWWWW I HAVE NO TALENTS BUT I'M RICH HAWWWW WAAHHH BAWWWWW". I want something kinda true.

How about Sunny Day Real Estate. Texas Is The Reason. Real emo to begin with, none of this nu-emo shit that pollutes everyone's minds into thinking whining and being sad is emo.
