I agree with 47 although it is not the most artistic form. that would be classical. i am not a fan of classical, i dont listen to it out of choice but it wont make my ears burn. It is stereotyped as being "satanic" when really its not. not at all. bands like Deicide are into that stuff but bands like Chimaira are not. Go look up some of the drunken vomiting that DragonForce calls their concerts. If you're into that stuff just listen to neoclassical, it's all the virtuosity (for real, not Herman Li's "look at me I sound so good in the studio" jizzum) without all the glam, videogame influence and gay-ass mythological bullshit.
As far as I'm concerned, power metal is up there with the image-obsessed, vocally challenged nu-metal bands of the mid 90s who for some reason still have a following even though the suburbanite kids with all that pent up rage because of one too many weekends in which their parents didn't let them use the car have all since dropped out of high school to do coke full time.
