ATTN: Audiophiles (Concerning Ripping Music)

Name: Anonymous 2006-08-21 0:30

A question to you truest lovers of music:

I'm ripping CDs with CDex.
As opposed to CBR 320 kbps, which takes up a ridiculous amount of HD space,
How EXACTLY should I set my options to free up space yet preserve superior audio quality?

read up on hydrogenaudio.org

your best choice would be if you use Exact Audio Copy + lame encoder with --alt preset standard settings

That is the dumbest shit I have ever seen, To be so anal when ripping just to encode as MP3. If you want quality stop being a pussy and rip as FLAC.

And OP, stop being a cheep litle bitch and get a decent HDD, newegg.com has many for great prices.

QUALITY <-> SIZE chose one.

The point of the site is that aps is the best compromise, because almost nobody can tell the difference past that.  They are pretty anal about their naming conventions, but that doesn't stop you from using the copies of EAC and lame they have there for personal use.

Also, lol cheep.

Dumb Anonymous is DUMB.
I'm trying to fit songs on a 4GB Hard Drive.
The laptop on which I'm saving these songs bear a 120GB HD.

if it's for an mp3 player : use AAC at ~96kbit/s VBR if your player supports it

So? Again QUALITY <-> SIZE chose one.

You cant have both, just shove the music you want on you player, dont hope or want your whole libary with you.

Yeah you can have both, not in mp3 or whatever shitty compressed non compressed format have you, but in the real men's formats.
