I was also looking for recommendations for good jazz.. preferrably contemporary vocal artists. It doesn't really matter if they do covers of old songs though.

For some good jazz check out John Zorn. He's also done some stuff with Yamantaka Eye, who is not a jazz musician, and it turned out really well.
What was that album again, Nanonano, Naninani? Too lazy to look it up. Great album though. I understand why it must be more appealing to 4chan users than Zorns other work, I mean the jap and everything... For extra happy listening pleasure try
